Freshwater or saltwater? The difference starts at the source.

Pearl powder can come from different species of pearl-producing molluscs, grown in very different environments and processed using different methods.

At Naker, we exclusively source saltwater mother-of-pearl from Pinctada maxima, the South Sea pearl oyster. This species produces some of the world’s most highly prized pearls, renowned for their exceptional size, thick nacre and beautiful lustre.

We choose these shells specifically for the quality of their mother-of-pearl, formed naturally over several years in the ocean.

Our nacre comes from reputable pearl farms that prioritise responsible cultivation, healthy oysters and the long-term health of their marine environments.

Mother-of-pearl is our hero ingredient, so its origin and quality are fundamental to everything we do.

We’re very particular about our shells. And for good reason.

Not all pearl powder is the same. Much of the pearl powder available today comes from freshwater pearl mussels. Naker doesn’t.

We use Pinctada maxima, the saltwater pearl oyster responsible for South Sea pearls, among the most prized cultured pearls in the world.

The choice of shell was fundamental to us from the beginning. Because when you’re making pure pearl powder, the source matters.
