Okay these perfumes are officially leaving Wonder Potion, so let's talk about them before they're gone.

Fresh Out is for people who just want to smell really, really clean.
It smells like freshly washed hair, clean skin, subtle soap and a fresh white towel. There's a slightly watery, almost cucumber water freshness to it, with just a little soft floral and musk underneath.

It's not sweet, powdery or strongly floral at all. And it doesn't have that sharp, masculine smell that some fresh perfumes can have either. It genuinely reminds me of that moment when you've just stepped out of the shower and your skin is still slightly damp.

If you're new to perfume, don't normally wear fragrance, or find most perfumes too strong, this is one of the first scents I'd recommend from Wonder Potion.

Wear it to work, class, the gym, while travelling, running errands, or on those extremely hot Malaysian days when the last thing you want is a heavy perfume that smells sticky after a long day.

And if you're choosing between our two clean scents:
Fresh Out is fresh shower + clean skin.
Bare Honey is clean soap + warm honey.
Fresh Out is the fresher, lighter one. Bare Honey has a little more sweetness and warmth.

This smells like a bar of sweet milk chocolate melting on your fingers! Like a Cadbury style chocolate: creamy, milky, sugary and very realistic (at least imo).

There are no fruit notes, coffee or anything fancy trying to sneak in.

It's basically just chocolate, milk, sugar and vanilla!

We actually used to have another chocolate scent called Hot Cocoa, which was much darker and more bitter. Something like 80-85% chocolate cacao, so like a rich cup of hot chocolate made with lots of cocoa.

But we realised most of our customers preferred their chocolate sweeter, so we dialled down the bitterness, added more milk and sugar, and eventually Chocolate Bar became our easier-to-wear chocolate.

If you love milk chocolate, sweet gourmands and perfumes that smell properly edible, this one's for you.

I'd wear it for café dates, movie nights, dinners, rainy days or anywhere indoors and air-conditioned.

It's quite dense and melty, so personally I wouldn't reach for this if i'm going to spend most of the day running errands or walking about KL. Not ideal 🚫

Because she is chocolate and she will behave accordingly 💅🏼

Also should we bring Hot Cocoa back for the dark chocolate people? Because I know some of you are out there.

If you like Bare Honey but always wished it had more flowers and sweetness, meet Honey Florals!

Bare Honey is the cleaner and soapier one. It smells like freshly washed skin with a little warm honey.

And Honey Florals takes that honey and puts it into a bunch of fresh wildflowers!

You get honeycomb, green leaves and loads of florals especially honeysuckle, lavender & lilac. The honey adds this sweetness but this definitely smells more floral than gourmand.

It doesn't smell like honey cake, honey syrup or anything particularly edible.

I'd recommend this to anyone who likes soft floral perfumes but doesn't want something that smells too powdery or traditionally perfumey.

It's also a nice next step if you already love Bare Honey and want something a little more floral, less soapy.

You can wear it to work, brunch, daytime dates, shopping, weddings or just as an everyday perfume.

It's especially nice when you want something floral and slightly sweet that still works comfortably in Malaysia's weather.

Oh the horror 😭

This smells like walking into a florist when they've just unpacked fresh flowers. It's green, watery and floral, with fresh lilies and cut stems literally, like a bunch of fresh lilies that have just been put into a vase of water - soft florals, green stems and that slightly watery freshness 💐🌱💧

If you love vanilla and caramel, smell this - a perfume that smells like real crème brûlée.

Around this time we hired our very first live host, Jaja.

Before that we barely went live ourselves. Partly because we were overwhelmed but also because Wonder Potion meant so much to us that we were worried we'd take random comments online a little too personally.

So we thought maybe it's better to let someone much more professional do it.

Back at home my mum was helping us label samples and pack parcels. If you've ever received a sample with a slightly crooked label, I promise she really did try her best.

Oh, and one of our bottle shipments arrived completely soaked. I still have no idea why.

So before we could even use them, we spent hours washing every single affected bottle by hand. Not exactly the glamorous entrepreneur life you see online.

Around the same time, we worked with Yasmin, on a project I was ridiculously excited about. Instead of only showing the perfume, I wanted people to see the dessert or drink that inspired it.

So Yasmin made everything from scratch.

Looking back at it now, I think that's when I realised perfume is actually much easier to understand when you can see the inspiration.

It's a lot easier to imagine how something smells when there's a freshly baked vanilla frosted cupcakes or a glass of iced peach tea sitting right in front of you.

As the weeks went by, more orders started coming in.
We went from sending a few parcels here and there to filling entire courier bags.

I know that's probably nothing compared to bigger businesses, but to us, it felt huge! I still remember loading all the parcels into the car and thinking, "wait people really actually bought all of these?"

That was probably the first time it really sank in that strangers were choosing our perfumes with their own money.

When I watch these videos now, I don't really notice the parcels or the packaging anymore. I notice Jo.
We packed orders together, carried boxes together, and spent most days trying to solve problems we had absolutely no experience solving.

We really had no idea what we were doing.
We were just learning as we went and hoping we'd figure it out. And for the first time in a long butt-ass time, it felt like maybe we were.
