𝗪𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐃𝐀𝐘
On November 14th every year all over the world, we celebrate World Diabetes Day.
It is a day set apart to raise awareness about Diabetes among the general public. There are usually diabetes-targeted medical outreaches, seminars, etc.
While setting apart a day to create awareness about diabetes; its prevention, complications and
treatment options is a laudable feat and have made a huge difference, it is not nearly enough.
In my opinion, Diabetes awareness should not be an annual program, it should be a daily one.
There is still a lot of ignorance and misconceptions surrounding a disease that is rapidly eating up our populations both locally and globally, a disease that is best described as an epidemic.
Luckily, the situation is not all doom and gloom. With effective and consistent health education, aimed at equipping the populace and dispelling myths and misconceptions, diabetes will be
handled and its negative consequences greatly controlled.
This is why I was thrilled when I saw that 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
The fact is: the power to prevent and control diabetes does not specifically lie in the hands of doctors, It lies in the hands of individuals like you and me.
Diabetes Self management and
prevention is the proven way to knock this disease out.
Any strategy that is not aimed at giving this power back to the people will only succeed in being a temporary success.
The greatest threat against our people is ignorance and the most potent weapon against ignorance is Knowledge (accurate information).
This is why I have dedicated my practise to educating the public about practical steps to prevent, identify and control diabetes.
This is also why I urge you to do all you can to learn HOW TO DIABETES-PROOF YOUR FAMILY.
