BODY WHISPERS
“I need oxygen too.”
Every cell in your body needs oxygen.
And your blood is responsible for delivering it.
At the centre of that job is haemoglobin, the protein inside red blood cells that carries oxygen from your lungs to your tissues.
But haemoglobin needs iron.
When your body doesn’t have enough iron, it may struggle to produce enough healthy haemoglobin. That can leave you feeling unusually tired, weak, dizzy or short of breath.
Iron also supports normal energy metabolism and other important functions.
So your blood whispers, don’t just ask why you’re tired.
Ask whether I’m getting what I need to carry oxygen.
You can get iron from foods such as beans, meat, fish, eggs, leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds, among others.
And remember, not every case of tiredness is iron deficiency. Persistent fatigue deserves proper evaluation rather than self-prescribing iron. Feed the blood that feeds you. 🩸
