Seeing blood when you p*e can be frightening.
Sometimes, it may be caused by something treatable, such as a urinary tract infection, kidney stones, certain medications, or strenuous exercise.
But blood in the urine can also be a sign of a more serious problem involving the kidneys, bladder, prostate, or urinary tract, including cancer.
And here's the important part:
Blood in your urine doesn't always come with pain.
So please don't say:
“It doesn't hurt, so it's nothing.”
“It happened only once, so I'll ignore it.”
“I'll wait and see if it happens again.”
Even if the blood disappears, it deserves proper medical evaluation.
A healthcare professional may ask about your symptoms and medical history and may request a urine test, blood tests, scans, or other tests depending on what they suspect.
Also, urine that looks red or pink isn't always caused by blood. Certain foods, medicines, or other conditions can sometimes change urine colour. That's another reason testing matters.
See a healthcare professional if:
• You can see blood in your urine
• Your urine repeatedly looks pink, red, or cola-coloured
• You have blood in your urine with pain, fever, or difficulty urinating
• You have blood in your urine and feel completely fine
Blood in urine is a symptom, not a diagnosis.
Don't panic.
Don't self-medicate.
Get it checked.
Your body may be trying to tell you something.
