Mushroom cultivation uses agricultural waste such as sawdust, rice straw, or other suitable plant materials, which provides a growing medium which do not turn the mushroom into an artificial organism.
However, the safety and suitability of any substance used depend on its quality, quantity, and application.
Calcium carbonate is a naturally occurring substance found in limestone, chalk, marble, and eggshells which is added to help regulate the substrate acidity.
A cultivated mushroom is a natural biological product, not an artificial one. Cultivation simply means humans provide suitable conditions for the mushroom to grow.
