Peru gave me a lot to think about, but mostly a lot to remember.
A country of contrasts - incredible nature, chaotic roads, loud music, slow service, friendly but sometimes shy people, and life at 4,000+ metres as if it's completely normal.
The jungle was my favourite. I felt strangely at home there, even a few steps away from tarantulas and caimans. Standing in complete darkness at night, listening to the jungle all around me, I have never felt safer.
I loved the two days with a family at Lake Titicaca too - freezing nights with no heating, making traditional food, taking the sheep to graze, and trying to communicate in Aymara.
And then there were all the creatures and plants I wanted to befriend - llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, guanacos, capybaras, agutis, caimans, tarantulas, spiders, mantises, stick insects, moths, macaws, butterflies, giant ants, a beetle that actually cries, and even a walking tree.
So many little moments 🇵🇪
