The GFC Hygiene Box - our first shipment sold out before it arrived, our next shipment arrives at the end of June.

The hygiene box utilizes a germicidal and antiviral UV-C lamp to sanitize spectacles and trial frames. It sanitizes without using water or other fluids and without heat.

The UV-C lamp destroys bacteria, germs, spores, mould and other micro-organisms from the surface of the spectacles after only a few seconds of exposure. Germicidal power is maximized by the internal reflecting aluminium surface and the way that the spectacles are positioned allowing UV-C light exposure to the most important areas such as nose pads, bridge, hinges and temples.

User safety is guaranteed via an automatic cut-off switch that stops power to the lamps when someone opens the lid during a treatment cycle.

An electronic timer allows you to select a sanitization time of between 10 seconds and 1 minute. The ideal sanitization cycle is 30 seconds.

You can sanitize up to 7 spectacle frames or trial frames at once.

Taveuni Eye Project 2019

The last full day of the Taveuni Eye Project for 2019, there have been so many life changing stories, as there is every year of this amazing initiative. In the post-op checkup this morning we revisited Varanisese (Frances) who had her first eye operated on yesterday. There was something very poised and elegant about this lady from the moment she entered the hospital. Varanisese was a nursing sister who was forced into early retirement due to bilateral cataracts and blindness more than 12 years ago. Her caregiver who traveled with her to Taveuni explained that Varanisese had become more and more withdrawn in recent years often confining herself to the inside of her house. The video speaks for itself, it was very emotional.

Day 8 - Monday October 14th 2019 - Taveuni Eye Project

Quote of the day. One of the female patients from a remote village on the mainland in Fiji was asked what she was looking forward to most after her vision was restored, she said “It’s hard to steal a chicken if you can’t see the chicken”.

A moving and important day for the whole project, as president of the Rotary Club of Taveuni, Bob Goddess, unveiled a plaque to the late Geoffrey Amos, a founding father of the club but more significantly the driving force behind the Taveuni Eye Project. Without Geoffrey there would be no project. W...
