Managing IBS is so much more than just looking a food.

When I work with my clients, I look at:
✨ The gut-brain axis
✨ Lifestyle
✨ What you eat
✨ How you eat
✨ Medical history & medications
✨ Exercise
✨ Toileting routines
And so much more.

Understanding the root cause of your IBS and working on all of these dietary & lifestyle factors together, is what will “fix” your gut health 🫶

Calling all IBS girls - is there anything I missed? ✨💩

I love a cheeky cocktail as much as anyone… but these days, my body definitely lets me know about it the next morning 🫠

As a gut health dietitian, I’m often asked whether alcohol affects the gut. The short answer? Yes. While the occasional drink is absolutely okay for most people, regular or excessive alcohol can negatively affect the gut microbiome, increase inflammation, disrupt sleep, increase IBS symptoms and leave you feeling pretty crap 💩

That’s why I’m choosing to cut back this winter without missing out on the ritual of a Friday night drink🍷✨

I’ve been loving THE CHILLER ALCOHOL-FREE DRINK STORE for their range of alcohol-free wines, beers and cocktails that still feel like a treat.

Even better, they’ve got up to 20% off throughout Dry July, they’re donating $1 from every order to Dry July, and you can stack my code BIANCA5 on top of the sale for an extra discount.

So whether you’re taking part in Dry July or simply looking to drink a little less, it’s a great time to give them a try while supporting a fantastic cause 💙

As always, gut health isn’t about being perfect, it’s about making choices that work for you, more often than not.

Maybe it will be different this time 🤷‍♀️🫣💀

As a gut health & IBS dietitian, I swear by these are they stand true EVERY TIME …

Breakfast, lunch & dinner. No skipping meals

2x kiwi fruit a day for IBS-C

Pre & pro-biotics from food first before supplements

Regulating the gut-brain axis alongside the low FODMAP diet

Increase fluid before increasing fibre

Cutting out too many foods often worsens gut issues rather than improving them

DNA tests do NOT provide any useful or accurate information

Microbiome testing doesn’t provide clinically useful information & often creates more confusion

These are the 5 most common mistakes I see people making when it comes it IBS, in clinic 🙅‍♀️

1. Stop over complicating it and get the basics right.

Sorry guys, the basics aren't sexy BUT THEY WORK! Eat at least 3 meals daily, sleep 8 hours, drink 2L water, move your body daily and look after your mental health. It's all the stuff we know, but are you doing it?

2. You've cut out too many foods.

Cutting out too many foods, starves your microbiome, creates more stress and puts you at risk of nutritional deficiency, low energy and only creates more problems. ALWAYS speak with a dietitian first before cutting out foods because this can easily become a visious cycle and worsen your symptoms.

3. You're ignoring stress.

IBS is a gut-brain disorder and often one of the root causes for IBS. If you don't work on the gut-brain axis, chances are you won't get the results with your gut health that you're after.

4. You're relying on supplements to fix your gut.

Some supplements are worth while but they should be used in conjunction with other therapies to manage your IBS and optimise your gut health.

5. You're trying to do it yourself without guidance from a professional.

The internet and social media is FULL of information. Some good, but alot of the information is false, confusing or misleading and certainly not personalised for each individual case.

Stop prolonging your misery. Save your time, stress and money and see a dietitian from the get go!
