Grown in a paddock, not a factory 🌿

A lot of skincare starts in a lab. Ours starts on our BioGro certified family farm in Dovedale, NZ, where we grow organic peony root.

Frosty winters and long sunny summers concentrate paeoniflorin in the root. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory compound, and it’s what helps calm red, inflamed, itchy skin.

We lift the roots ourselves, then make our products in small batches, so you know exactly where your cream comes from.

It is easy to treat skin as a surface thing. It rarely is. It shows up in what you wear, whether you go out, how you sleep, and how much of the day you spend thinking about it.

Spring on the farm looks like this 🌸

Pretty, and slightly beside the point. The flowers are the part you see, the root underneath is what we grow for, and that’s what ends up in every remedy we make.

Good timing, because spring is when skin tends to get reactive: pollen in the air, wind that hasn’t warmed up yet, and a routine built for winter that suddenly feels like too much.

What makes peonies more than just a pretty flower? 👩‍🔬

Paeoniflorin. It is the active compound in white peony root, used in traditional medicine for centuries for its anti-inflammatory and calming properties.

Ours grows on our organic farm in Dovedale, where the Nelson climate pushes the root to produce more of it. We harvest, wash, slice and dry it on site, and the Cawthron Institute in Nelson has tested it independently to establish its paeoniflorin levels.
