🌿🏆 A Moment of Recognition for He Toa Takitini
We are incredibly proud to celebrate Krystal Nikara, Kaitiaki & Founder of He Toa Takitini (HTT), who has been recognised at the 2026 Āti Awa Toa Wellington Regional Sports Awards with a Community Impact Award for the Hauora Initiative, He Toa Takitini Hauora Programme.
This recognition is about so much more than an award. It acknowledges a kaupapa built around whānau, hauora, connection, movement and positive change creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to strengthen their wellbeing and feel supported in their journey.
He Toa Takitini is about reminding our people that hauora is holistic. It is about nurturing our tinana, hinengaro, wairua and whānau, while creating a space where people can show up as themselves, be accountable, celebrate progress and lift one another.
The Community Impact category recognised Krystal alongside other community initiatives for breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for people to participate in sport, recreation and wellbeing.
But as the kaupapa itself reminds us:
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini.
My strength is not that of one, but of many.
This award belongs to every whānau, every participant, every kaimahi, every supporter and every person who has contributed to the HTT journey.
From the beginning, the vision has been bigger than one person to create change, strengthen whānau and leave a pathway for those who come after us.
This award is in honour of all past & present members who have made HTT what it is today.
Thank you to our amazing past& present kaimahi who volunteer thier time to support our whānau & a crucial part of our programs existence.
He toa takitini.
He kaupapa mō te whānau.
He ara ki te hauora.
