GrowPlay Therapy Center will be OPEN on Friday, August 21 (Ninoy Aquino Day). 🌱 Scheduled sessions will continue as usual.

With the recent rain and changing weather conditions, please continue to prioritize your family’s safety. If weather or travel conditions make it difficult to come to the clinic, kindly message us as early as possible so we can help arrange a make-up session, subject to therapist and clinic availability.

It’s a rescheduled therapy session offered for a missed regular session, so your child can continue their scheduled therapy support.

And when staying home is the safer choice, there’s still plenty of room for play, movement, little routines, and time together at home. 🧩🏠

A little bit of life at GrowPlay lately. 💛

Some days look like tracing lines, solving puzzles, exploring food, climbing, moving, and figuring things out together.

Other days look like moving furniture, opening another box, fixing something that could work better, or staying a little later to make sure the space is ready for tomorrow. 😅

When we first started GrowPlay, there were just bare walls and a lot of ideas about the kind of therapy space we wanted to build.

We’re still building it.

Not just the clinic itself, but the little systems, activities, spaces, and experiences that make it easier for our kids to play, participate, learn, and grow in their own way.

And somewhere along the way, GrowPlay has grown with us too. 💛

Today's Grocery Challenge had our learner planning, checking a shopping list, making decisions, and staying organized while having fun.

Activities like these can support everyday skills such as:

💚 problem-solving
💚 visual scanning
💚 working memory
💚 independence

At GrowPlay, we love creating meaningful activities that help children practice skills they can use beyond the therapy room.

Because learning isn't only about completing a worksheet, it's about building confidence for everyday life. 🌱

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫. 💛

Many parents hear things like,
“Wait and see muna.”

And sometimes, yes, children do develop at their own pace.

But if concerns are persistent whether in communication, play, movement, attention, regulation, or daily routines, it can help to bring them up early.

𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. The brain and foundational skills are growing quickly during these years, but this is not about fear or pressure. It is not about saying there is a strict deadline. It is about understanding a child’s needs while routines, learning patterns, and supports are still being built.

𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 also does not mean forcing a label. It may simply mean monitoring more closely, asking for developmental screening, seeking a fuller evaluation, or getting the right support at the right time.

The 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬 recommends developmental screening during routine well-child visits at 9, 18, and 30 months, and autism-specific screening at 18 and 24 months. Screening can also be done anytime there is a parent or provider concern.

If you are concerned, you do not need to panic.
But you also do not need to ignore it.

You know your child best.

𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝. 🍽️💛

"𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠" can be a normal part of childhood. But when feeding challenges begin causing significant stress during meals, limited food variety, nutritional concerns, or anxiety for the whole family, it's worth looking beyond behavior alone.

We're excited to share that we have officially completed training in the 𝐒𝐎𝐒 (𝐒𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲) 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠®, expanding our knowledge in supporting children with feeding differences.

The SOS Approach looks beyond what a child eats and explores why eating may be difficult. Rather than relying on pressure, force, or rewards; it considers the whole child, including sensory processing, oral-motor skills, development, medical history, and the mealtime environment, to better understand the factors influencing feeding.

One of the best parts of our profession is that 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. Every training we attend is more than another certificate: it represents new knowledge, refined clinical reasoning, and practical strategies that we bring back into every session with the children and families we serve.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a group of rehabilitation science students to GrowPlay Therapy Center as they worked on one of their academic projects.
