Title: World Sepsis Day 2023: Challenges and Priorities in Sepsis
Time: 08:00 am to 12:00 pm (Philippine Time)
Date: September 13, 2023

This is a 4-hour learning program aims to explore common challenges in recognition and management of sepsis. In addition, this activity intends to provide the nurse attendees with up-to-date guidelines and evidenced based practices in the care of patients who are at risk of developing sepsis and the impact of early recognition in the management of the disease.

This activity is celebrating the World Sepsis Day, which is held every September 13th. It aims to provide an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against sepsis. Sepsis accounts for at least 11 million deaths worldwide annually. Yet, depending on the country and education, sepsis is known only to 7 – 50 % of the people. Likewise, it is poorly known that sepsis can be prevented by vaccination and clean care and that early recognition and treatment reduces its mortality by 50 %. This lack of knowledge makes sepsis the number one preventable cause of death worldwide.

Good news for CCNAPI Members!
CCNAPI would like to invite you for a FREE webinar on April 6, 2022 (Wednesday) 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
Patients with coma and decreased consciousness are often seen as a common manifestations of acute neurological conditions. The care for these patients are most prevalent and a challenging aspects of management in neurocritical care.

There are challenges confronting the neurocritical care team such as the difficulty in diagnosis, the problem of unconsciousness or lack of demonstration of consciousness, extremely complex clinical assessment. Likewise, the team particularly the nurses are confronted with daily management with total dependence, communication with patients that requires special attention, and communication with the family of these patients that requires more sensitivity and full involvement by the team. It is therefore, important that nurses must engage and be well-informed about evidence-based practices that promote a deeper understanding of what is involved when working with patients in coma, vegetative state (VS) and minimally conscious state (MCS).
