In recent times, there has been a noticeable increase in cases of conjunctivitis, commonly referred to as pink eye, within the city of Karachi. To protect both yourself and your family from this infectious condition, it is essential to adopt certain preventive measures.

First and foremost, maintaining proper hand hygiene is crucial. Avoid touching your eyes with unwashed hands, and make it a habit to regularly wash your hands with soap and water. This simple practice can significantly reduce the risk of infection.

Additionally, it is advisable to steer clear of sharing personal items, especially with individuals who may be infected. These items include pillows, washcloths, towels, eye drops, eye or face makeup, makeup brushes, contact lenses, contact lens storage cases, and eyeglasses. By refraining from sharing these personal belongings, you can help prevent the transmission of pink eye and contribute to the overall health and well-being of your community.

That's an essential message to share! As August is Children's Eye Health and Safety Month, it's crucial to raise awareness about the importance of eye care. Make sure to read the following points carefully and help spread them within your community to prevent eye diseases and promote better eye health for children:

1. Schedule regular eye exams for children to detect and address any potential vision issues early on.

2. Encourage kids to take breaks from screens and digital devices to reduce the risk of digital eye strain.

3. Promote outdoor play to help children's eyes develop and maintain good vision.

4. Teach children about the importance of wearing protective eyewear when playing sports or engaging in activities that could pose eye injury risks.

5. Advocate for a well-balanced diet that includes eye-healthy nutrients like vitamins A, C, and E, as well as omega-3 fatty acids.

6. Raise awareness about the signs of possible eye problems in children, such as squinting, frequent eye rubbing, or complaints of headaches or blurry vision.

By sharing these points, you can help parents and caregivers prioritize their children's eye health and ensure a brighter future for their vision.

Anti-VEGF treatment is given as an injection into the white of your eye (the sclera). The drug is injected directly into the vitreous, the jelly that fills your eye. This is called an “intravitreal” injection. The procedure is generally very straightforward and quick and isn't usually painful.

These incredible paintings you're looking at right now were created by shining stars of . We found them in DUHS-DICE 2022, where they explained to us how they work for their students.
Our team were astounded by their ingenuity and met with their outstanding student, a girl who was born deaf but has been trained to read lips so that she can converse normally.
This deserves to be appreciated!
