Blood tests help you catch illness or diseases early.
Here’s a list of annual blood tests every woman should consider doing once a year

1. Vitamin D – Helps to assess bone health, fertility and immune health.
2. HBA1C - Helps to assess the average plasma glucose in your bloodstream over the last 2-3 months.
3. Calcium - The decline in the hormone estrogen as a woman age causes her bones to thin faster this is why it is especially important for woman above 35 to test their levels of calcium.
4. Homocysteine - Used to diagnose vitamin B6, B9 or B12 deficiency.
5. 9. hs-CRP - Checks for acute illness and long-term low-grade inflammation.
6. Hormone Panel- helps to assesses levels of the different hormones in women as they age.
7. Iron Status - Ensure you ask for total iron, total iron binding capacity, and ferritin.
8. Thyroid – Helps to check your metabolic/thyroid function and also assess your body for any autoimmune disorders.
9. CBC- To test red and white blood cells - the important players in immune function, vitamin deficiencies and oxygen transportation.

Check Water/Dairy Intake - Get them used to drinking water throughout the day.

🏃‍♂️Exercise - Make sure you get moving each day to help stimulate other movements! ⁠

⁠🚽Toilet Routines (No Holding!)- Young kids should be reminded to take time to sit on the toilet (yes, even if they are busy playing!). After a meal is a great time.⁠

Try Probiotics - Probiotics are the good bacteria that are found in some foods, such as yogurt, and can help with mild constipation.

💩Remove the Stigma- Make it OK to talk about p**p with your kids and family member in a matter-of-fact way. Everyone does it! for some extra help getting things moving.

Diagnosis of PCOS
There is no single test to diagnose PCOS. To help diagnose PCOS and rule out other causes of your symptoms, your doctor may talk to you about your medical history and do a physical exam and different tests:
●Physical exam.
Your doctor will measure your blood pressure, body mass
index (BMI), and waist size. They will also look at your skin for extra hair on
your face, chest or back, acne, or skin discoloration. Your doctor may look for any hair loss or signs of other health conditions (such as an enlarged thyroid gland).
●Pelvic exam.
Your doctor may do a pelvic exam for signs of extra male
hormones (for example, an enlarged cl****is) and check to see if your ovaries are enlarged or swollen.
●Pelvic ultrasound (sonogram). This test uses sound waves to examine your ovaries for cysts and check the endometrium (lining of the uterus or womb).
●Blood tests.
1. Hemoglobin HA1c
This test shows your average blood sugar levels for the past 2 to 3 months.
2. CRP levels
This test shows inflammations.
3. Thyroid Hormone TSH test
Low T4 indicates hypothyroidism
4. Testosterone
Male androgen test
5. SHBG Test (S*x hormone binding globulin (SHBG)
May be low in PCOS

3-day International Conference on Food and Nutrition Sciences 2022 wrapped up on Saturday at the University of Swat. The conference was organized by University of Sawat in collaboration with Gomal Dera Ismail Khan University. I also attended this Conference on the behalf of my department of University Institute of Diet and Nutritional Sciences from THE UNIVERSITY OF LAHORE. At the end of the ceremony, Abstract Books and honorary shields were exchanged. It was a great learning experience.

High Fiber, High Protein, Gluten Free Chilla
Ingredients
1 Cup Masoor Daal
1 tbsp Salt
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp Chilli flakes
½ tbsp turmeric Powder
½ tbsp Olive Oil
Direction
Soak Masoor ki daal with 2 cups of Water Overnight
Strain water and add all spices in daal.
Blend the mixture with ½ cup water well until super smooth.
Fry like a Pan Cake.
This recipe will make about 3 Wraps.

🐮Have nutritious breakfast
Fill your breakfast with healthy fruits and other essential nutrients. Consume low-calorie food for the breakfast so that you can eat all through the day.

🐮Eat in small portions
Do not overeat at one time. Eat in small portions and in gaps. Heavy meals may cause a bloating and gastric problem. So, eat wisely.

🐮 Consume grilled food
Consuming fried food leads to the consumption of unhealthy oil in an excess amount. Instead of frying food, grill it. Roast it in olive oil so that you do not take any unhealthy fats.

🐮Avoid Fizzy Drinks
Avoid cold drinks Rather than gulping down a glass of cold-drink, have a glass of buttermilk/ lassi with mint leaves in it for better digestion. 🥛 you can also use mint Margrita.

Important nutrients and their sources:
🔶Follic acid: found in beans, citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables and your prenatal vitamin
🔶Calcium: found in dairy (milk, yogurt and cheese) and dark leafy vegetables
🔶Choline: found in red meat and eggs
🔶Vitamin B12: found in meat, poultry, seafood as well as fortified bread and cereals.
🔶Omega-3 fatty acids: found in fatty fish, chia seeds, flax seeds and fortified foods.

Tea is an obsession for many of us. So many of you always question can we have Tea while losing weight or it gains weight?
Now coming straight to the problem, chai is not inherently fattening. There’s no ingredient in ‘tea’ which is fattening. In fact, tea is good for health if taken in right way but it’s the combination & preparation that actually plays the role.
The classic regular chai tea consists of high-fat milk & sugar. An average cup of tea contains 120-150 calories. With this mixture and proportion, chai consumed 3-5 times a day will definitely not help you to lose fat
One cup of chai in a day won’t usually make that much difference when it comes to your weight. But as any chai drinker would openly confess, one cup is just not enough.
3-4 cups of chai is a normal affair for all of us as a Tea Lovers.
If you think you have to give up completely, all I’m saying is DON’T GIVE UP. Please understand it’s not easy if you have been drinking tea all your life. If you are fighting an addiction you can’t just tell the person to stop it. That’s not the solution. Instead try systematic approach. Reduce the amount of tea’s gradually. Make your own tea & try healthier ways.

Please note I’m not asking you to drink tea or telling you it will help you to lose weight. If you don’t drink tea.

Hypothyroidism medication precautions:
♦️Avoid taking your thyroid hormone at the same time as:

⚠️Walnuts
⚠️Soybean flour
⚠️Cottonseed meal
⚠️Iron supplements or multivitamins containing iron
⚠️Calcium supplements
⚠️Antacids that contain aluminum, magnesium or calcium
⚠️Some ulcer medications, such as sucralfate (Carafate)
⚠️Some cholesterol-lowering drugs, such as those containing cholestyramine (Prevalite) and colestipol (Colestid)
To avoid potential interactions, eat these foods or use these products several hours before or after you take your thyroid medication.
Supplements containing biotin, common in hair and nail preparations, can interfere with the measurement of thyroid hormone. Biotin does not affect thyroid hormone levels, but supplements should be stopped for at least a week before measuring your thyroid function so that your thyroid status is accurately reflected.

Active or passive fat shaming involves the criticism and harassment of overweight or obese people about their weight and eating habits to make them feel ashamed and get them to lose weight, exercise more and eat less.

Fat shaming doesn't work. It does not help encourage people to lose weight. The reverse effect is actually true: Fat shaming often leads to weight gain.
Many studies show that weight discrimination-including fat shaming-causes stress and leads overweight people to eat more calories.
Fat shaming can cause:

✔Reduced self-esteem
✔Increased risk of mental and physical problems.
