I do not find time to post regularly due to my busy work routine. But here’s a little sneak peek of my lunch.
A salad doesn’t have to be boring (by boring I mean tasteless) or full of high fat dressings such as mayonnaise. And no you need not to add olive oil to it because drizzling olive oil would also increase the calories.
Here’s a healthy, protein rich salad consisting of Boiled kidney beans, cucumbers, lettuce, olives, jalapeños peppers. And for seasoning I add dried mixed herbs, salt, pepper, a little bit of mustard and barbecue sauce.
Kidney beans are a good source of protein and has carbohydrates (particularly fiber) too. They also contain good amounts of iron. This is a healthy lunch option for those trying to lose weight or trying to maintain it.

A lot of people ask me how do I manage to maintain a healthy body weight despite eating outside food 2-3 times a week.
Here’s a tip: whenever I am at home, I try to eat as much healthy as I can. And I always opt for fibrous foods which keep me full. I enjoy cooking low fat caloric restricted meals for myself.
This plate has stir fried vegetables (Zucchini, French beans, carrots, broccoli and a small sized skinned potato). I added garlic, mixed herbs, salt, pepper and only 2 tsps of oil to cook it.
But it is important to remember that I am not going to survive on this meal alone. Apart from this, I also eat bread, flat pan bread (Roti/Chapatti), rice, chicken, fish, eggs, low fat dairy and most importantly fresh fruits.
Moderation and balance is the key. You need not to starve yourself or deprive your body off essential nutrients in order to lose or maintain a healthy body weight.

#Diet therapy for #Kidney patients Kidney disease is a common problem affecting about 10% of the world’s population. The kidneys are small but powerful bean-shaped organs that perform many important functions. They are #responsible for #filtering waste products, #releasing hormones that regulate blood pressure, #balancing fluids in the body, #producing urine and many other #essential tasks. There are various ways in which these vital organs can become #damaged. #Diabetes and #high blood pressure are the most common risk factors for kidney disease. However, obesity, smoking, genetics, gender and age can also increase the risk. #Uncontrolled blood sugar and high blood pressure cause damage to blood vessels in the kidneys, reducing their ability to function at an optimal level. When the kidneys aren’t working properly, waste builds up in the blood, including waste products from food. Therefore, it’s necessary for people with kidney disease to follow a special diet. #Dietary restrictions vary depending on the type and level of kidney damage, as well as the medical interventions in place, such as medications or dialysis treatment. #Diet_for_Diabetes_During_Pregnancy #Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that is first seen in a pregnant woman who did not have diabetes before she was pregnant. Some women have more than one pregnancy affected by gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes usually shows up in the middle of pregnancy. Doctors most often test for it between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy. Often gestational diabetes can be controlled through #Nutrition therapy and regular exercise. Sometimes a woman with gestational diabetes must also take insulin. #Exercise is another way to keep blood sugar under control. It helps to balance food intake. After checking with your doctor, you can exercise regularly during and after pregnancy. Get tested for diabetes 6 to 12 weeks after your baby is born, and then every 1 to 3 years.For most women with gestational diabetes, the diabetes goes away soon after delivery. When it does not go away, the diabetes is called type 2 diabetes. Even if the diabetes does go away after the baby is born, half of all women who had gestational diabetes develop type 2 diabetes later. #Pregnancy is a time period of increased #Energy and #Nutrient demands. Pregnancy is not a disease, but a Normal Physiological condition which some women experience more than once during their life cycle. It is recommended that pregnant females should include all food groups into their diet and consume 5-6 small meals throughout the day instead of 03 large meals. Pregnant women should consume a variety of cereals/wholegrains, milk and dairy products, fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat and meat substitutes, beans, peas, legumes, nuts and other sources of healthy fats. It is further recommended that pregnant females stay well hydrated and active throughout pregnancy. However, it is a misconception that a Pregnant woman needs to double her caloric intake during pregnancy. During first trimester the energy requirements remain same as that of a non-Pregnant woman, in second trimester you need #340 kcalories in addition to your daily energy requirements and in the last trimester an additional #112 kcalories are needed. Which means the overall energy needs increase by 452 kcal during pregnancy.
