How many times have you said “yes” to someone else while quietly abandoning yourself?

I know that feeling. For years, I over-explained, softened my no, and put my needs aside just to keep the peace until I realized that constantly pleasing others was costing me my voice, my energy, and my sense of self.

Learning to set boundaries became a journey back to myself, and today, I’m sharing a piece of that journey with you.

I’m proud to introduce my first book:

✨ BOUNDARIES
The Art of Saying No Without Abandoning Yourself

This is more than a book, it’s a guided workbook for anyone who feels guilty saying no, struggles to speak up, or keeps putting everyone else first. Through personal stories, reflection questions, and practical exercises, BOUNDARIES will help you protect your time, honor your needs, and communicate with confidence without losing the people you love.

Because saying no doesn’t make you selfish. It makes space for a healthier, more honest life.

If you’re ready to stop abandoning yourself to keep others comfortable, explore BOUNDARIES through the Payhip link below. 🤍

Sometimes we know.

We feel the hesitation.
The tension.
That little feeling inside that says, “I don’t want to do this.”

And yet…

We say yes.

Yes, I’ll go.
Yes, I’ll help.
Yes, that’s okay.
Yes, you can stay.
Yes, I understand.

Not because we truly want to say yes but because saying no might disappoint someone.

I used to think this was kindness.

But when I repeatedly said yes to someone else while saying no to myself, I was teaching myself that their comfort mattered more than mine.

That’s where boundaries started changing for me.

I began practicing something very simple:

Pause before the yes.

Before answering, I ask myself:

Do I actually want this?

What happens in my body when I imagine saying yes?

And if I weren’t afraid of disappointing anyone… what would my answer be?

Sometimes the most loving answer is yes.

And sometimes…

it’s no.

Your body often knows the boundary before your mind gives you permission to set it.

The tight chest.
The knot in your stomach.
The words caught in your throat.
The exhaustion after saying yes when you wanted to say no.

These sensations are not necessarily telling you what decision to make. They are asking you to pay attention.

Where in your body do you feel yourself saying no while your mouth is saying yes?

Self abandonment doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like saying, “It’s okay,” when it isn’t.

Laughing something off when it actually hurt you.

Saying yes because saying no feels uncomfortable.

Overexplaining yourself so someone won’t be upset with you.

Ignoring that feeling in your stomach because you don’t want to seem difficult.

Staying longer than you want to.

Giving another chance when something inside you is already saying, enough.

I used to think boundaries began when someone crossed a line with me.

Now I understand they begin much earlier.

They begin in the moment I notice that I am about to cross my own line.

That little pause is where everything can change.

Instead of asking,
“What will they think if I say no?”.

For years, I thought keeping the peace meant being understanding.

Being patient.
Not making a big deal out of things.
Saying yes when I really wanted to say no.
Staying quiet because I didn’t want conflict.

I thought I was being kind.

What I didn’t realize was that sometimes, in trying so hard not to disappoint other people, I was disappointing myself.

Every time I ignored what my body was telling me.
Every time I swallowed what I really wanted to say.
Every time I made someone else’s comfort more important than my own truth.

I was abandoning myself to keep the peace.

And here’s what I understand now:

Peace that requires you to abandon yourself isn’t peace.

Boundaries have taught me that I can love people and still say no.
I can be compassionate and still choose myself.
I can disappoint someone and still be a good person.

Sometimes the most important boundary is the one that says:

I will no longer abandon myself to make someone else comfortable.
