Kicked off October with our neighbors this weekend
We started on the mat. For me, yoga has always been about training the nervous system to stay steady when things feel uncertain. And that naturally set the tone for our second session: practical emergency preparedness.
Following the Swedish guidelines for home preparedness (hemberedskap), we walked through the simple essentials every family needs in place:
Keeping enough food, water, and warmth at home so you can safely ride out a disruption for a week without panicking.
Most importantly, knowing who your neighbors are so no one feels alone.
What stayed with me most was having the kids right there in the circle—especially little ira.
She took everything in with those big, curious eyes, sometimes shyly tucking herself behind her mother, yet standing right beside her, fully supporting her mom in her own sweet, quiet way.
Kids truly learn what they see. Long before they understand checklists or emergency plans, they absorb how faith, quiet trust, and laughing through the wobbles actually look like in real life. Seeing the adults around her breathe, listen, and lean on each other showed her what a real village feels like.
A calm nervous system on the mat, a clear plan at home, and a neighborhood where trust is lived out loud. That’s what real resilience is all about. 🍂🤍
