Upasuaji Africa's vision is the development of surgical skills for surgeons in rapidly developing East African countries. We aim to be on the leading edge of surgical excellence in East Africa by pioneering new programs in teaching institutions
and both urban and rural hospitals, coordinating fellowships for qualified surgeons, importing technology and surgical equipment
and collaborating with international surgical teams who desire to share their knowledge and skills with our surgeons. In addition we advocate for the most disadvantaged patients by partnering with other organizations and facilitating patient treatment. Upasuaji is a 501(c)3 charity registered in the State of Oregon, USA.

Every child with Down syndrome deserves integrated healthcare tailored to their unique strengths and health needs. Together with multiple pediatric specialists we are closing healthcare gaps and building a brighter, healthier future for our children and their families.

A Man Like Sam follows the inspiring journey of Samuel Mugabi, a Ugandan man with Down syndrome breaking barriers and exceeding expectations of the community around him. In a region where intellectual disabilities often lead to isolation, Sam’s path to independence highlights the power of opportunity and parental advocacy.

Told through Sam’s own voice alongside insights from his parents and Lynsay Balumuka and Diana Mutoni, the film is a look at resilience, family devotion, and the systemic fight for true inclusion in East Africa.
