A little over a year ago, I felled a small cherry tree on a property to allow space for building a 2300 sq ft post and beam addition, to a house that was originally built in the late 1700s.
That cherry is now dry and ready to work.
This cutting board is from one of the slabs that I milled from that cherry log. What beautiful coloration and figure! The curling throughout the board was a pleasant surprise. Now what to make from the rest of the lumber🤔

Justin came out to the shop today and got a heck of a start on a nice little cherry charcuterie board today

Installing a face frame to give a raised panel effect. Should make for an interesting accent wall.

Things have been hectic the past couple of weeks. Between illness, the dog taking I'll, and losing a dear friend, I've been a little behind listing some recently finished items. If you scroll down, you'll see some of the amazing boards that have just left the shop. Message if interested. Still time to get them out for Christmas!

When you wake up at 5:30 am, and spend 90 minutes shoveling the driveway, only to have the boss call and cancel work due to the winter storm- you set up a glue and epoxy station in the livingroom.

Productive couple of hours in the shop! Finished building a router sled, milled a bunch of black walnut, and cut my pieces to start building a "river" table. Hoping to spend some time tapering the legs and cutting my mortise and tenons during the week. This thing is going to be sexy when finished!

Here's a few shots of the Hutch that I just built. The client is ecstatic! The unit has been built to fit in between the bents of the post and beam construction. There is no back panel to the top section of the hutch. The interior wall of the house was framed out and fitted with plexiglas to allow viewing of the original hand hewn beams, and mud/straw insulation

A few shots of the bathroom that I've been working on. The teak tub enclosure and vanity top were a real challenge, but the results are spectacular. At least the client thinks so, and that's what really matters.

Squared up a bunch of random offcuts today, as the shop clean out continues. Everything but the kitchen sink on this stack: yellow heart, purple heart, maple, black walnut, wenge, cherry, red balau, Honduran mahogany ready for the table saw. All these colors should make for some interesting cutting boards

We were fortunate to have been able to give a little back to our local al community by sponsoring Rondout Valley High Schools musical production of The Little Mermaid. Last night's opening performance was stellar. Good luck this weekend RVHS Drama club- break a leg, or fin, or whatever.

I'm quite pleased with the outcome! I stand behind every piece that I create, but usually there's some slight flaw, or something I would slightly change. I can confidently say that this Bolivian Rosewood comb turned out flawless. There isn't one thing that I would have done differently.

Some shots of this week's progress: windows in, trim installed, 2 coats of paint, stairs are just about finished. Just a few more boards to install, sand, and coat. Once completed we can clean up the polished concrete floor and call this job a wrap!
