Nursing students undergo intense training to prepare them for service. Nurses have to be prepared for anything, and when it comes to making sure they’re ready, ONU’s nursing program delivers.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Understanding the nurse's role in early detection, treatment and follow-up care along with counseling of the patient & his or her family/caregivers is crucial to providing patient-centered care. "I'm usually with them in the exam room when the doctor delivers the diagnosis, and I'm there for them as long as they're getting treatment or involved with the hospital in any way. It's an emotionally demanding role." -Gigi Gerlach from "A Day With A Cancer Nurse"
It's a tough point in the semester, so I thought I would remind everyone of the joys of being a nurse. Never lose sight of your dreams and goals and keep pushing through school! "I don't want to be the person that makes a single grandiose difference in the world; I want to be the person that makes a million seemingly insignificant differences in the world."
Being a nurse is thankless and hard but well worth it.
Just a reminder that NSNA required dues are to be given to the nursing department office by THIS Friday (9/22)! We would to have you join our organization so remember this small fee of $10 that will gain you access to many opportunities in the upcoming year! Many thanks from your NSNA team☺️
