Hopefully everyone has gathered their bread, milk and eggs in preparation for our snowy forecast!
❄️☃️🌨❄️☃️🌨❄️☃️🌨❄️☃️🌨❄️☃️🌨❄️

Remember to stay home and off the roads if you can and do your part to keep your nearest fire hydrants clear of snow!

We are closely monitoring a significant winter storm forecasted to begin this weekend. Widespread moderate to heavy snow is expected across the state tomorrow, with a transition to freezing rain expected tomorrow evening, and back to snow on Monday.

Forecasts continue to evolve, but parts of western Maryland may see a foot of snow, while central and southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore may receive a few inches. The snow, rain, freezing rain, ice accumulations, and high winds will pose challenging road conditions statewide.

We urge Marylanders to monitor their local forecast, exercise extreme caution on our roadways, and above all, use common sense.

Access reliable weather updates from your local U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) office and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). Call 511 or visit MD511.org for real-time travel information.

To mark the first call of the year for CMFC, it was a service call to assist a property owner with a horse in a muddy situation. B285 from Point of Rocks and Chief 14 responded. Upon arrival, farm and horse owners Directed crews to the horse's location. Crews were able to obtain a horse glide from a local horse venue and under the direction of an on scene vet were able to safely move the horse to drier ground where under its own power was able to stand up and shortly began grazing as if nothing Happened.

With the impending major snow storm occurring tomorrow, please remember to keep any hydrants close to your house clear.

This will help us be as quick as we can in the event of a fire. Those precious seconds or minutes could mean the difference for you or your family if we have to dig the hydrant out upon our arrival.

You might see us out and about in the coming days ensuring and clearing the hydrants in your area. Help us help you.

Winter weather is coming!! Be sure to follow the storm updates and avoid travel if you can! But should you find yourself driving during the storms see these tips from our friends at Frederick County Sheriff's Office, MD.

As the forecasters are predicting a snow storm to hit this area tomorrow and go well into the evening and Thursday morning, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office wants to remind everyone of some helpful winter driving tips.

Remember Maryland's Move Over Law and that you should always slow down and move over (if you are able to safely do so) for ALL emergency vehicles.

As the weather and road conditions worsen, we ask that you avoid traveling on the roads if at all possible. This allows our deputies to safely respond to all calls for service.

It is with deep regret that we must cancel Santa Runs this year due to the severe COVID-19 Restrictions facing our entire community.

You may not realize it, but this is one of OUR favorite community events as well! This was a tough decision for CMFC to make and we did not make it lightly.

We are however optimistic that, with everyone's help in adhering to the simple guidelines of defense against the COVID-19 virus (mask wearing, handwashing, and social distancing), we will be able to return to some semblance of normalcy next year.

From all the members of the Carroll Manor Fire Company, have a safe and happy holiday season!
