Talk About It!

Happy Tuesday, and happy National Star Wars Day! To honor this day, we are highlighting TalkAboutIt.org, a website created by Greg Grunberg, who you may know as Temmin Wexley from Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. He was also the celebrity guest at this year’s Confections in Chocolate event!

Inspired by his son with epilepsy, Greg created Talk About It! as a way to get people talking about epilepsy! Check out the Talk About It! page below, and May the Fourth Be With You!

Anyone with a brain can have epilepsy, and that includes Molly!

We’d like you to meet Molly! Molly was 9 years old when she was diagnosed with epilepsy, after experiencing absence seizures. Molly used to manage her epilepsy with medication, but is happy to share that she has found she no longer needs it at the moment and has been seizure-free for 5 years!

She was our 2016 Winning Kid and was able to attend events, raise awareness and advocate for those affected by epilepsy throughout her community. She was also our chosen teen for the 2019 National Teens Speak Up! Program, and has returned as our teen again this year! Molly is also an ambassador in the Epilepsy Ambassador Program for the Epilepsy Foundation of America since 2020. Not only is she a strong advocate, she also has helped raise funds for epilepsy by participating in the Walk to END EPILEPSY DC in 2016, raising $2,000!

“Epilepsy doesn’t define you. Don’t let it stop you from achieving your dreams.” Molly shared.

Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York is bowling virtually!!
Research Shows Anxiety-Induced Seizures Can Resemble Epilepsy. Although epilepsy is one of the most common causes of seizures, it's not the only cause. Extreme emotional states can give rise to seizures. ... According to one study, as many as 20% of people diagnosed with epilepsy might have PNES instead. I’m conducting an experiment on myself to see if me without atorvastatin (Lipitor) causes me to have more seizures... I quite it two days ago and since then my seizures increased a lot... But I have to say since I have been on it and I begun exercising my seizures appeared to decrease in numbers... I use to have 4 or 5 everyday and many were while I worked physical labor... With Lipitor my heart and blood pressure have decreased to a healthier level and my seizures lessened to some days not having a seizure... So there are possibilities to ask your Neuroligist to test on yourself or your child... Not I am still on an epileptic med as well so it may be that the meds work better together for a patient with epilepsy... I’ve had the disease for more then 30 years now and it hasn’t been this much progress for me until this year... So good luck in learning more with your neurologist or your family members neurologist... Also note I bought a dog for treatment to depression and that may have some healthier results also... Attachment to someone you care about releases different chemicals in your body that may for certain reduce stress and anxiety as well and stress and anxiety may increase seizures to witch can cause complications to your physical body as well...
