In the second installment of the "Death and Dying" series, Lisa Good of Urban Grief will be discussing the "stretching" of relations in response to the chronic traumas of these times.

Please join us Feb 5th from 6:30-8p to hear more about this pressing topic and join in a community learning to respond to the grief and hope of this world we find ourselves in.

"We are individually and collectively being bombarded with grief and traumatic losses. The repetitive losses and cumulative grief in conjunction with the social restrictions associated with COVID19 have stretched social connections and relationships beyond capacity.

In our time together, we will explore the overlapping aspects of trauma, and grief and consider ways/next steps to build and reinforce our capacities for individual and collective care in our communities.

10 years ago, the first Holiday Hope (December 2010) was held at Trinity's Arbor Hill. I wasn't sure if anyone would attend. I just knew it had to get done. There had to be a place where people could come and be honest about their losses, the burden to celebrate and the pressure to pretend they weren't hurting. It wasn't easy, but year after year people came and together we connected, cried, and learned from each other. 2020 hasn't been easy; many of us and those we service have faced unthinkable losses. Homicide survivors extend way beyond the immediate family, including friends, and neighbors. Register by scanning the QR code.

We are working with our community partners to strengthen our neighborhoods. Thanks to the United Way and community champions for your support to advance our mission!

We are living in extraordinary times, and maybe you just want things to go back to normal.

At United Way of the Greater Capital Region, we want better than normal, because normal just wasn’t working for thousands of our neighbors, and old broken systems will not fix the challenges we face.

With your help we want to reimagine a new normal and rebuild a more equitable and resilient Capital Region.

Join us! Because together we can Respond, Recover, Reimagine, Rebuild, and #LIVEUNITED. Learn more and make your pledge today at www.UnitedWayGCR.org/ChangeStartsHere

Did you know that to make a strong start in pre-school, a child needs 10,000 words?

Many children who live in Urban communities start school with a command of only 900 words, versus their middle income counterparts who start school with more than 10,000 words. Trinity wants to even the playing field, and give ALL CHILDREN the chance!

Trinity Alliance’s Race to 10,000 is an exciting program geared for parents/guardians and their children, ages birth to three years old. Expecting women are also encouraged to participate. This program is a fun, activity-rich 10 week program to help children increase their vocabulary and communication, so they have a head start in their education.
