Albany Pet Partners Albany Pet Partners - Veterinary Clinic in Albany, GA
(48)

Dr. Freeland and his staff at Albany Pet Partners are committed to providing affordable spay-neuter, preventive care, basic sick pet care and surgeries for cats and dogs. Albany based Albany Pet Partners is a unique practice in southwest Georgia, now designated a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity. Since taking over this practice in March 2000, Dr. Fred Freeland has developed the special role of serving as a safety net for cat and dog patients in the Albany area. Albany Pet Partners is a limited-service cat and dog clinic whose mission is to provide affordable spay-neuter and preventive veterinary care for pets whose owners find themselves in difficult financial times or living with limited income due to disability or other circumstances. Our goals are to reduce the number of pets entering our shelters, reduce the number of pets euthanized and increase the number of vaccinated pets in the community to reduce disease risk for all pets. We seek to provide pet owners with knowledge about all care options and costs so an appropriate choice may be selected for their circumstances. Albany Pet Partners offers the Albany community emergency veterinary services as well.

Today we removed this from a sweet pup! This is what happens when *Gorilla Glue is ingested!! If you suspect your pet has ingested glue, even a small amount, please have them seen by a veterinarian immediately! (This pup is doing well following the surgery.)

*Gorilla Glue is one of the first polyurethane glues available to the general public and is present in many households. The sweet smell and taste of this and other polyurethane glues can be an attractant to your canine companion. When this glue reaches the gastric juices in the stomach a volatile reaction happens and the glue expands as foam and then hardens. The resulting obstruction cannot generally be ejected by vomiting and requires surgery to remove. (Source: petpoisonhotline.com)

Stitches for Mitchell County, Inc.

This baby is having a very rough time. After receiving a concussion from his encounter with a vehicle, he has been struggling with his temper. He doesn't like anyone at the moment. We are working with him trying to let him know he is going to be fine and noone is going to hurt him. He would be better off with his family, and we have been desperately trying to locate them. Right now, he has his own bed, thanks to Jan Belyeu and is resting. He does not like cats, puppies, grown dogs or any humans. Please help us find this little man's home. Please care and share this post. Thank you and God bless.

BLANKETS NO - STRAW YES! Here's a very important cat shelter "DON'T" for the winter. We all associate "warm and cozy" with blankets - but please don't use them in feral cat shelters. In damp or cold weather, once the blanket gets damp it stays damp - and in the REAL deep cold, it will freeze. (Dampness can get into the shelter by a rain/snow covered cat or simply on windy days)

Instead use straw (NOT HAY) in the shelter. Straw is the best bedding. It dries very quickly and doesn't retain moisture (whereas hay does!)

Pass it on!

Update on Zoey

06/27/2018

We decided against the go fund me as it would have to be in an individual's name. Instead it would be easier for us to do it personally through the office. Anyone wishing to help can call Michelle and she can process cards. 229-432-0717. Or a check can be made to Albany Pet Partners, 1601 East Broad Avenue, Albany, Ga. 31705 please say it's for Zoey. Thank you!

The latest test had been sent to the lab and we are waiting on results. We will update as soon as we know anything. Thank you so much for helping us to help Zoey and all the critters that have no one at all to help them. We couldn't do it without you! We are very grateful to this community of caring people.

Update on Zoey. It's complicated. Her blood work isn't good but everyone consulted isn't in agreement with whether she actually did eat the poison or not. It's looking more and more like she will need specialized testing to be sure. We had hoped that she could be handled without having to resort to great expenses, but now the lab work is going to be the great expense at the moment. We are not sure exactly how much expense will be involved in the long run. What we do know is that she is precious, very sweet and she wants to live. We just don't have the finances to help her at this point.
