I want to be surprised and shocked, but I'm just not.⁣
I lived for a decade postpartum, hiding in shame of my body, never seeing it anywhere else, feeling alone in it.⁣
To share it after all those years of pain and shame, was SO freeing.⁣
I felt released from a cage.⁣

But, I should have known that there would be those who preferred I not have that, and would fight it, repeatedly. ⁣
To go back to hiding.⁣
Or go "fix" myself before showing up again.⁣

I showed up anyways. ⁣

Now, I'm pregnant.⁣
And the cycle has reset.⁣

Celebrated, adored, a body with PURPOSE, meaning, a job to do.⁣
Bracing for when it's over, and it's not so cute anymore. ⁣
Not so adored. ⁣
Purpose, completed? ⁣
Feeling, meaningless?⁣
Job, done?⁣

But this time I see it.⁣
And I'm not surprised or shocked. ⁣
I expected it.⁣

This time my fight is clear. ⁣
I will not be going back into a shame cycle. ⁣
I will not be denying my body it’s right to exist and be enjoyed. ⁣
It will not be easy. ⁣
But it will be worth it for the memories I make from not being closed off from experiences because someone somewhere decided that my body’s purpose was for the world, and not for me. ⁣

To celebrate it. ⁣
Adore it. ⁣
Honour it’s purpose for me. ⁣
And congratulate it for an ongoing job well done. ⁣

And to show up. ⁣

We interrupt the usual baby photos for a studio update 😉

Cases are rising locally and your safety is my priority!

Thankfully in my studio your session is completely private to you and only you and extremely safe because of this private atmosphere.

I am seeing other studios and other trainers posting videos and openly training clients without masks on locally and I want to guarantee that this is not the place you will catch that happening!

Current group sessions are being reduced in size starting this week. This way the maximum allowed in studio at one time will be 5 people total, that’s including me!

The studio is being cleaned daily after each client and also by me! I want you to have no concerns when you are working out in my space and I want you to enjoy your fitness with this ease of mind!

If you are uncomfortable with in person training during the current rise in the virus you can absolutely opt for online training!

Please, never hesitate to ask me any questions you have about in person or online training options!

Still on waiting lists for dumbbells and kettlebells and barbells etc but we are a work in progress!
The pull up bar isn’t in yet, but we got our wall hanging done this weekend!
A bathroom mirror finally - multiple paper towel holders - a band rack and more!
Very exciting to have my own space now and so far clients are LOVING IT!
I am so appreciative of all of you for supporting my business over the many years!
I officially only have one PT spot left and I’m so happy you all have supported me through this new adventure and accepted me as I navigate my postpartum journey too!! ❤️

🤷🏻‍♀️I don't know who needs to hear this but it helps when you have realistic goals instead of idealistic goals.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For example, you may want to look like your fave crossfit games athlete or influencer, so you follow their meal plans, workouts, and every single supplement they recommend, only to come up short.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1st off their genetics are far different than yours (not better, not worse, just different) but 2nd off your lifestyles are VERY different. This isn't a bad thing it's just we have to understand why what we are shooting for may in fact be very unrealistic and far too idealistic.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They may workout 3-4 (or more) hours a day, while you only have time to workout 3-4 days for 30-60 minutes at a time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You may have a family to feed, while the person you're looking up to has maybe a dog or a husband to watch after and maybe even a cleaning lady.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You may not be getting 8 hours of sleep because, you know, life? kids? dogs barking? While they make 8-9 hours look like it's so easy to attain.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They may have time to meal prep every meal, count every last macro & have companies send them food. You? It's definitely something you prioritize but who has time to plan out every last gram of protein when you have a family, responsibilities, and a life to live?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The point is we have to stop comparing our real to someone else's as this ends up making us shoot for and unrealistic ideal.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reevalutate your goals today and think about if the diet, lifestyle, body type, exercise plan, etc. really matches with your life goals, lifestyle, etc. and if not, don't feel shame or guilt, just readjust!

if you are going to focus more on the real and less on the ideal going forward.

🙅🏻‍♀️Is it worth the long term mental and physical ramifications? Absolutely not.

🙆🏻‍♀️I recently listened to a podcast where a well know CrossFit coach discusses nutrition...it started out by him claiming to not be a nutritionist only to then go on to tell people how they should approach their nutrition.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤦🏻‍♀️He even went on to say he told a coach they shouldn’t eat a Five Guys burger and pulled up the calories and told him how awful it would be. It was that coach’s birthday. The shaming was unnecessary as I’m sure the coach doesn’t eat a Five Guys Burger every single day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙇🏻‍♀️I could go on about the podcast (and I will in my stories) but just know that no coach should shame, judge or guilt you into a behavior, they should support, guide, and educate you.

🙅🏻‍♀️Don’t settle for a coach just because they are well known or have a ton of followers. Your health is worth so much more than that.

📢I know it's hard to believe but it's the truth. Just like Ted say's in How I Met Your Mother...NJ is not prettttty much NY, well a MLM coach is not prettttty much a dietitian or nutritionist.

💬I had this post teed up before I heard about Monat's new "wellness" line and was glad for the opportunity to remind people of what is BS and what is real. Because let me tell you Monat sells hair products that have been known to cause your hair to fall out, don't roll the dice to see what their "wellness" products will do, please.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏻An MLM is a multi-level marketing company (aka it is a larger company that has a ton of sales people who have sales people) and while not all sell nutrition and wellness products, many do. Why is this a problem?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙅🏻‍♀️Because MLMs are incredibly predatory in nature, their products are often not third party tested for quality, and ANYONE and I mean literally ANYONE can be a rep (they call them biz owners, but I'm sorry as an actual business owner, I'd like to see their quarterly taxes, LLC paperwork, insurance coverage, and bank account).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤦🏻‍♀️This means that the rep telling you how AMAZING these products are for your digestion, skin, weight loss, etc. is being fed lines from their up line instead of like RDs & nutritionists who are being fed science and critical thinking skills from their years of training & experience.

🙌🏻Think twice before supporting MLM wellness coaches and save your pennies for real food and good causes.

I think it’s absolutely AMAZING that some online shops are showing how often online images are deceiving! As women we all know how scary social media is and how it effects us in every way. I really hope women of all ages and sizes see these images and feel better about their "flaws" because lets face it ladies no one is perfect, absolutely nobody! And for these models to do this I think is a real step forward to promoting positive body images and showing that all of us women have lumps and bumps!😍💜

Last night I had the pleasure of celebrating Catrina K Fitness’s 2 year Anniversary. In these past 2 years Catrina K Fitness has assisted me navigate through my journey of health and fitness. We’ve worked on recovering from injury, and proper strength training form, and most recently she has been a sounding board for my struggles with IBSD, food intolerance testing, FODMAP elimination and reintroduction. I made this tonight for dinner on a whim! It was the only meal I hadn't planned out today. I remembered I had a frozen bag of mixed riced cauliflower and diced carrots, had already prepped chicken for the week, and happened to have majority of the rest of the ingredients! It came out SO good and no joke, it took me a total of 12 minutes to throw together from start to finish (yes, I timed it)! Now, I have dinner until mid week and it's DELISH!
I miss PT w Catrina but Luke is still pushing me to new limits. Non scale victory tonight! Even thou almost 80 degrees outside, my time around the Vent building was almost 2 minutes faster than when I first started many months ago (even w bum knee). Now to work on speeding it up more! 🏃🏼‍♀️
