This is one of the reasons exists: pet care in emergencies. That feature is being added within the next two major releases.

Truman Hayes drove himself to the emergency room in Kansas City at 3 in the morning with chest pain. Teddy, his shepherd mix, rode in the passenger seat of the truck.
There was nobody to leave Teddy with. Since Truman's wife died, Teddy has gone everywhere Truman goes. Truman parked on level 2 of the garage and cracked the windows. At the desk he told the triage nurse about the dog before he told her about his arm.
Within the hour he was upstairs on the cardiac unit. By sunrise the doctors had bypass surgery on the schedule.
Tamika Reed was his nurse that night. At 4:30, on her break, she took his keys down to the garage. Teddy sat upright in the driver's seat and watched the elevator doors.
At the end of the shift she drove Teddy home with her.
Truman's bypass went fine. Pneumonia set in afterward, and he spent five days on a ventilator and three more weeks on the unit.
Tamika has two kids and works nights. A 60-pound dog for that long was more than she could manage alone. She wrote "TEDDY" on the break room whiteboard with a column of dates under it.
Six other nurses put their names down.
For 26 days Teddy moved from house to house. One nurse had a fenced yard, and another had a teenager who slept on the floor next to the dog. Whoever had Teddy took a picture every day and brought it to room 9.
The first morning off the ventilator, Truman couldn't talk yet. He wrote one word on the clipboard the nurses gave him. "Dog?"
Tamika held up her phone. In the picture Teddy sat on Tamika's couch between her two kids and ate a piece of toast.
On day 26 the nurses wheeled Truman out the front entrance with his discharge papers in his lap. The youngest nurse on the unit was standing on the sidewalk with Teddy on a leash.
Teddy got both front paws up on the arm of the wheelchair. Truman put his face down in the fur on the dog's neck and held on.
All seven nurses had come down. Two were off that day and drove in for it.
Truman texts the unit a picture of Teddy every Sunday.
