"Stephanie turned 13 this past February. If Stephanie reaches her 14th birthday without being adopted, she will be ineligible for adoption. She will have to spend the rest of her life in an institution in China. All of her chances to have a forever family to love her and call her daughter will be gone.
Will you consider adopting Stephanie into your family? Or perhaps you know the family who is meant for her."
If only we could wake up from the dream, the one where each one of these precious children have families, and discover that it was real. The cold hard fact is that there are children who do not have mommies and daddies. And it’s a lot like a nightmare sometimes.
According to her paperwork, Stephanie turned 13 this past February. And oh, how we celebrated! Our sweet Stephanie, who has lived in our care since 2014, has celebrated four birthday parties with us, and with each one, our hopes for her grew. When we first met her, she was a scared and skinny little thing, eager to please but too weak to do much more than laugh. Now she has developed in every way, growing in mobility, feeding herself (not necessarily without mess), and using some sign language and picture-boards for communication.
It’s hard to know what Stephanie will and won’t be able to do in life, so the family that adopts her will need to walk with her through the challenges that lie ahead. Yet, Stephanie is a precious little girl who doesn’t have a family today, and she needs one. Because, very simply, every child should have a family.
If Stephanie reaches her 14th birthday without being adopted, she will be ineligible for adoption. She will have to spend the rest of her life in an institution in China. All of her chances to have a forever family to love her and call her daughter will be gone.
So here we are. Asking you … will you consider adopting Stephanie into your family? Or perhaps you know the family who is meant for her. Will you act today?
For any family willing to take the leap of faith, it IS possible. But you need to start the process right now.
In February, Stephanie will celebrate her 14th birthday, and we will do whatever we can to make sure that she knows how precious she is for the rest of her life. But she needs to celebrate that birthday in her forever family. Will you help make that happen?
Please email ([email protected]) to get more information about considering Stephanie for adoption. We know of one adoption agency even offering a $4,000 grant.
