When you are struggling it pays to assess what’s really going on. Look for guidance in wholesome places.

Love is patient,
love is kind and is not jealous;
love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly;
it does not seek its own,
is not provoked,
does not take into account a wrong suffered,
does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never fails.

Life has a way of humbling all of us at one time or another. I give thanks for everyone who has ever offered their hand to me when I was in the depths. Thank you for seeing me as a person in need without expecting something in return. Thank you for understanding that I was conditioned to be a giver so it pained me to take even in my own darkest hours. Thank you for not shaming me or pushing for a different response or action when what I needed was the space to lay on the waters’ edge to regain my breath. Thank you for letting me be and letting me regain the strength to choose for myself my next steps. Thank you for praying, for holding a kind thought, for refraining from bashing, bullying, or belittling.

I offer my love and support to all who are in this position, remembering too, that like the physical dry / delayed drowning that sometimes happens there is an emotional dry / delayed “drowning.” I know that PTSD, depression, and anxiety after big and little ”t” traumas goes unrecognized and untreated very often. Let’s challenge ourselves to always be kind and to offer a hand.

Dear Friends,
I am over the moon happy to have our Toby cat back home with us. As many of you know he ran away from us while traveling to be with family.
The circumstances surrounding my travels had me in deep grief and fatigue. To lose him and leave him behind magnified my sorrow.
The subsequent months had me battling guilt and worry about his wellbeing and my "cat mommy" failure to keep him safe.
I prayed to every saint and angel I could think of to surround him with protection and guide him to someone who would help. Not knowing whether he was living or dead was a lingering ache.
My family traveled to be with me on Thanksgiving with a determination to find him on the way here. They didn't find him, but my heart swelled knowing someone else didn't give up on him.
On Thanksgiving Day I received a text from the executives of this organization. They had Toby (they called him "Cowboy") and were willing to do whatever it took to reunite us.
He is now home, happy and healthy. Our other cat Lexus is the calmest and happiest that I have seen her since that fateful trip when he was lost. Lexus, at 15, has been treated for diabetes, and her behaviors had changed with eliminating outside her box and being very vocal. I know she was grieving being separated from Toby and all that was familiar. Since his return she is no longer vocalizing and she has gone back to using her litter box.
God bless Karen and Betty from the Alliance, and Miss Dee who Toby found to help him. These marvelous women know what stewardship of God's creatures means. I told them I would share this story with you and do what I could to help them in return.
If you are looking for a way to help our furry friends and the people who love them please consider sending a donation in Toby's name this Christmas to the Animal HOPE Alliance in Blacksburg, VA. Let us know that you have done that so we can celebrate. http://www.animalhopealliance.com/Donate.htm
Much love to all,
Patty

I'm always on the lookout for holistic, complementary and alternative ways to mend mind, body, emotions and spirit. While medicines are important and I'm grateful for them when needed, I believe wellness and wellbeing requires something more. What do you think?

I feel close to the divine in nature, with loved ones, and when holding an intention to help someone heal some troubled aspect of their life. I found this scientific study of daily spiritual experiences and thought we could learn from a discussion here. What do you think?

THREE BREATHS FOR PEACE

Hand over hand on your heart. Take a big breath into your heart, deeper into the Heart of Humanity, still deeper Into the Heart of the Nation, deepening into the Heart of the Earth, and opening to the Heart of Love. On the breath, open your arms and send love to all those who suffer on the planet. Repeat 3x changing which hand is on top every hour. Please post on your pages and email so that we all can attend to the Heart of Love every hour with the three breaths.

Adapt any you want to, but keep the love flowing every hour.
