Altus, A Community Worth Investing In
Kevin Baker, President of the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance recently announced that the Alliance has adopted the phrase, “Altus, A community worth investing” as its theme for 2018. This theme is connected to a larger effort called the Nehemiah Initiative. Nehemiah is an Old Testament character, who after praying and fasting returned to his home town and helped the people living there rebuild their city that had been destroyed. Nehemiah believed his home town was a community worth investing his life in.
The Alliance has set two events that will help fulfill the vision for the Nehemiah Initiative. The first is a community service project called the Big Day of Serving, it will be on Saturday, April 7. The Alliance is focusing on two neighborhoods for restoration. Volunteers are needed to serve.
Ruben Ybarra, Vice President of the Alliance said, “Church groups, youth groups, civic clubs, and individuals are welcome to come and serve with us.” The second event is a community campaign to pray for Altus for 40 consecutive days. The campaign will begin on March 25 and end on May 3.
The Alliance will also begin prayer meetings at the courthouse on Sunday’s at 8 PM to pray for rain. For more information please call our Nehemiah Initiative hotline at 580-482-3377 or click on https://www.nehemiahinitiative.org
