On this day and everyday, let us remember the 2,996 empty seats at the dinner table. Let us think of those unopened Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards, the missing smile at graduation, how silence replaced laughter and sadness permeated from our soul. We will never forget them and how could we? A gaping void runs through all of us who lived through it and it’s pain is our burden to carry. But let us also remember the more then 6000 still fighting to survive that attack and those who avenged that attack with their own selflessness and sacrifices. Robert McKee once said ‘...true character is revealed in the choices a human being makes under pressure - the greater the pressure the deeper the revelation...' We agree with Mr. McKee.

“Memorial Day is not about BBQs or furniture sales...it’s about remembering those that paid the ultimate sacrifice, it’s about remembering the families of our service men and women that have an empty place setting at their table, it’s about not taking for granted the freedom we have that was paved with the lives of so many. Today we pray for the families and remember those lost, and we challenge everyone to take a few moments out of your day to send up a prayer, take a moment of silence, bring respect, gratefulness and compassion back to the forefront of today.”
