Ashley High School Yearbook

Dear Parents and Community members,

As I'm sure many of you are aware of, the past few months have been a bit of a rollercoaster, and many of us are adjusting. Our Yearbook staff, consisting of just 3 members plus the Yearbook advisor, is definitely feeling the strain of current events.

It is because of this that we come to ask the community for a huge favor: we could use some adult help with the Yearbook if anyone is willing! This can be as simple as sending some pictures of your kids and/or community to actually helping us with advertising or the Yearbook structure.

If you're interested, please either comment below or message this page privately. Thank you in advance!

Congratulations to Chief Apps on your retirement!

Congratulations to Chief Apps on your retirement!

Today we give thanks to this great couple for their service to our community. Anyone that’s spent time around a volunteer firefighter understands the sacrifice that they make. But most people from outside the fire service don’t think about the sacrifice made by our families. Tonight at midnight we congratulate Chief Apps on his retirement from SLAFD. We thank Mrs. Apps, Alexander Apps and Andrew Apps for the sacrifice that they made while Chief Apps served his community for nearly 40 years. Through their sacrifice and commitment the Apps family made our community a better place. This evening we ask everyone for our largest social media post yet. Everyone please help me in thanking Chief Apps and his family for their service to our community. Chief Apps goal was to leave our department better than he found it. He has certainly done that.
Thank You Chief. And Happy Retirement

Thanks isn't enough to all the departments that helped us today in a hay barn fire. The heat played a huge factor in needing all the manpower we did. A big thank you to Brody Thiele of Tri. Twp. for being first on scene and assisting first crews. Also to our DNR conservation officers that were in the area that also assisted the first crews. Great teamwork everyone! The following departments were called to assist at the fire or stand by at another departments station.

Gratiot County Alert: Don't burn yard debris this weekend; campfires are okay

Permits for open burning of yard debris remain suspended across most of the state in response to the governor's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order to reduce the effects of the COVID-19 virus.

Fire danger is also on the increase as temperatures warm up for spring. A number of recent fires have been caused by backyard debris burning, including a 21-acre wildfire in Presque Isle County. Burning debris is the top cause of wildfires in Michigan. DNR firefighters also have stopped conducting prescribed burns at this time.

Despite the moratorium on permits for burning yard debris, campfires for recreation and warming, as well as some agricultural burning, are still allowed.

Gratiot County Alert: MI Attorney General Dana Nessel Issues Urgent Consumer Alert Following Reports of Federal Stimulus Scams
LANSING - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel today issued an urgent consumer alert urging Michiganders to be on high alert for bad actors aiming to coerce them out of their personal information in a new federal stimulus payment scam.
Scammers are using the news that the federal government will send one-time payments to millions of people across the country as part of the federal economic relief response to COVID-19 to steal personal information.
The Michigan Department of Attorney General has already received reports that residents are getting emails from websites appearing to be official demanding that they provide PayPal, bank account or other financial information to receive the $1,200 federal stimulus payment immediately.
The Attorney General's office is reminding anyone who receives a text, email or phone call from someone claiming to be from the government with a check for them - DO NOT FALL FOR IT. These fake phishing scams will likely ask for a person's bank account information and insist $1,000 or more will be deposited directly into his or her bank account.
Personal information should not be given to anyone unless the provider of that information is absolutely certain of the identity of the person requesting it.
