Manuscripts should emphasize service and educational program as well as policies that reflect translation of innovative approaches into practice.Community Voices and the AJPH are currently seeking topics (including but not limited to) the following:
• Innovations in the oral healthcare workforce
• Transformational practice
• Racial and ethnic diversity in the workforce consistent with the demographic changes of the nation
• The impact of race\ethnicity and racism on access to oral health care
• Access barriers across the demographic spectrum
• Practice modernization and modification that responds affirmatively to the existing public and private payment realities
• Gaps in research, policy and practice implications, best-practice models
• Implications for leadership

Oral Health Call for Papers

This fall Community Voices in collaboration with the American Journal of Public Health (AJPH) is seeking to publish a supplement issue on the topic of Addressing Age, Race\Ethnicity, Education, the Workforce and Oral Health (In) Equity. The guest editors for this supplement issue, Henrie M. Treadwell, PhD, Morehouse School of Medicine; Terrence S. Batliner, DDS, MBA, University of Colorado; and David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., Morehouse School of Medicine invite you and your colleagues to submit original epidemiological, social, and policy-oriented research manuscripts, commentary, perspective, or a critical review of major problems related to disparities in oral health and access to an oral health care home.

Hosted by Community Voices: Healthcare for the Underserved at the Morehouse School of Medicine, this one-day forum will:

• Advance awareness on the impact of mass incarceration in Mississippi’s African American communities
• Examine innovative solutions and avenues to economically empower formerly incarcerated individuals
• Explore strategies to create healthy environments and supportive opportunities for family reunification

On Wednesday, October 28, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, The FDHA will be holding its 4th Annual Health Summit at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Atlanta. The theme for the health summit will be Violence: America’s Challenge, and it is FREE and open to the general public.
During the summit’s lunch period, there will be a very special panel discussion surrounding human trafficking and finding solutions to this global issue. Former Mayor Shirley Franklin will serve as moderator, and Senior Anchor at WSB-TV Jovita Moore will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for the luncheon.

The purpose of the Health Summit is to share resources and solutions to end violence in our communities through various workshops, a town hall forum and wellness screenings. The summit will include opportunities to meet and engage local, state and national leaders, police officers, mental health professionals, judges, members of the clergy, and other community leaders and advocates.
