Since its formation, the Coalition has grown to represent over 30 associations of advanced practice registered nurses. Title: Nurse Practitioner Autonomy in Georgia: Exploring Barriers to Full Practice Authority
There is a current shortage of primary physicians in Georgia with the greatest needs in rural communities. The research is clear that nurse practitioners are highly qualified and clinically competent to manage patients with chronic diseases. There are currently 23 states with full practice authority for NPs. Florida used to be among the states with the most restrictive APRN scope of practice. However, on March 11, 2020 legislation was signed by the Governor of Florida, increasing scope of practice for nurse practitioners in the state. Georgia remains among the states with the most restrictive scope of practice.
The goal of this policy review project is to explore the barriers to full practice authority for nurse practitioners in the state of Georgia, and assess the impact of current policy on NPs opening independent practices. The data collected will be used to build a consensus for legislative change to current nurse practitioner scope of practice in Georgia. If we as nurse practitioners are allowed to practice autonomously, we will enjoy financial freedom not only from entrepreneurship, but also the ability to increase commerce in Georgia and improve access to primary care services.

IT TOOK EVERYONE TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE!!!

And this effort started almost 10 years ago….this is the first APRN legislation to pass in Georgia since Rx Authority in 2006. Thank you to APRN leaders past and present who began this effort and never gave up!!!

There are so many that we need to thank for helping our APRNs get this legislation passed and signed by the Governor.

Nurse Practitioners: The Answer for Rural America?

AANP President on the popular show "The Doctors." She did great job and these are some fabulous physicians who support NPs helping improve access to care. One task we have ahead in Georgia is building a movement of physician support for removing barriers to APRN practice. Florida Rep. Clay Pigman MD this for Florida earlier this year! Do you have a relationship with a physician that supports removing barriers for APRNs, message CAPRN, we will be working on this under the Georgians United for Healthcare initiative. https://www.thedoctorstv.com/videos/nurse-practitioners-the-answer-for-rural-america

I am calling on behalf of the more than 161,000 licensed nurses in Georgia. I am asking Governor Kemp to please support and sign SB 321. This historic legislation will increase access to healthcare for all Georgians. Thank you!

Please email the following message to Governor Kemp at [email protected]

Dear Governor Kemp,
My name is (insert your name here) and I live (insert your city and/or place of employment here), Georgia.
I am joining the more than 161,000 licensed nurses in Georgia in asking you to please sign SB 321 into law! The Georgia House and Senate passed SB 321 overwhelmingly during the 2020 legislative session!
This historic bill brings needed parity between APRNs and PAs and removes barriers for these advanced practice providers. This bill will grant Georgians access to timely, quality and safe healthcare which is especially critical as we fight to protect all Georgians against COVID-19. This bill is also desperately needed to close the gap between Georgia and other states in the regulation of APRNs and PAs. Georgia is the ONLY state with the APRN radiographic ordering restrictions.
Again, please help improve the access to healthcare for all Georgians by signing SB 321. Thank you!

GA APRNS! YOUR Responses are needed for this Important Survey! So far only 133 Responses from GA's 14,000 APRNs! Takes minutes!

The brief, anonymous, voluntary, IRB reviewed survey can be accessed online at: https://redcap.link/nationalAPRNSurvey

A national U.S. survey was launched on June 1, 2020, to assess impact of APRN practice restrictions and effect of COVID-19 pandemic on APRN practice. However, as of today, there are 133 responses from Georgia out of the total of 3,600+ national responses. This is a good response, but we are aiming for even more responses. The purpose of the study is to: 1) describe state practice barriers, 2) determine the effect of COVID-19 pandemic-related suspension of all practice restrictions or waiver of select practice agreement requirements in states with reduced or restricted practice, and 3) explore the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on APRN practice.

Hello all, I'm a psychologist that researches job design and motivation in healthcare. For my dissertation, I'm writing about how the design of electronic health records (EHR or EMR) affects provider motivation. For the project, I'm collecting data from hospital-based nurses and physicians to test our hypothesized links. If you work in a hospital with EHR, you can participate in our study by following this link to a questionnaire on your computer or smartphone. You can even go the extra mile by sharing this link with friends or posting it to a Facebook group where other nurses or physicians will see. Thank you for your time and for supporting this important research.
