"What I love most about my job and working with Information Systems is that no matter what system we are using/implementing, the primary goal is to bring everyone together. Technology can be very intimidating. I'm able to work with people, no matter what stage they are in, to help make it feel less intimidating! As BRCA continues to grow, the more efficient we have to become, and my job allows me to play a big part in that!"

Walk and play carefully! Temperatures are on the rise, and that means the risk for burns is increasing, too. Pavement or playground equipment that are in the sun can get very hot. These surfaces can cause severe burns to feet and other body parts, especially when temperatures climb above 95°F. #BRCA #JMS #Burns #SummerSafety

Did you know men are more likely to ignore signs of a health issue and less likely to visit the doctor than women? Be empowered and take control of your wellbeing by knowing what you are at risk for as well as the signs and symptoms. In 2013, over two-thirds of those who died from melanoma were men, according to an article by healthline.com. Other health issues that tend to go unnoticed in men include other cancers (breast, prostate, etc.), heart disease, and diabetic wounds. Conduct regular self-examinations and visit your physician for yearly check-ups. For those with diabetes, keep an eye out for wounds on your feet, legs, hands, or in folds of skin or visit us at https://burncenters.com/wounds/wound-services/diabetic-ulcers for more information. #BRCA #JMS #InternationalMensHealthWeek #DiabeticUlcers

Our Story

The philosophy of Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America is simple: We provide treatment to patients no matter their gender, age, mechanism of injury or ability to pay.

This goal has been the cornerstone of our burn centers since the first patient was treated at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, in 1978. That single patient set the process in motion to establish what would become the nation’s largest burn center. Along with that growth came the need to bring our care closer to our patients via satellite clinics across the Southeast.

From the outset, our physicians banded together to create Physicians’ Multispecialty Group to provide patient care. PMG evolved into Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc., the forerunner of BRCA.

BRCA continues to grow and partner with hospitals across the country to provide patient access to a continuum of care that supports the patient from initial injury through long-term rehabilitation, while ensuring no patient is turned away. We provide quality burn, hand, wound and reconstructive care to patients through new facilities, new partnerships and the latest advancements in care. BRCA is the nation’s largest burn network with almost 340 beds and 15 facilities spread over eight states including Idaho, Colorado, Texas, Nevada, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. The cornerstone of the network, JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, sits as the largest individual center in America with 92 total beds, including 36 in the Intensive Care Unit.
