Today we will be spotlighting Jennifer Harrison from the Emanuel County Health Department.

Jennifer is an APRN, FNP-C and the nurse manager at the Emanuel County Health Dept. She started at the clinic as the Children with Special Needs Nurse. “Originally, I think what sparked my interest in public health was working with children with disabilities. My heart goes out to these children and their families. As I took the position as a CMS nurse, I wanted to learn how I could make a positive difference in their lives.”

Q: Tell us about yourself (family, hobbies, etc.)

A: I am the wife of my wonderful husband John Harrison and the proud mother of two fantastic little girls; Aubrey and Addyson. My hobbies include scrapbooking and working in the yard.

Q: How did your role change when the pandemic started?

A: The onset of Covid -19 brought about many new challenges. Health Department staff were tasked with learning how to operate Mass Covid 19 testing sites. We continued to see patients through telehealth visits.

Q: What can you tell us about the Covid-19 vaccine?

A: We are currently administering the Moderna Vaccine here at the health department.

Q: In what ways have you seen the community come together during this time?

A: I have seen first hand many community organizations come together as one body to ensure that the needs of our community are being met. It is very clear that during a pandemic, you must learn how to work together to effectively and efficiently meet the needs and demands of your community. Emanuel County collectively has strived to educate, protect, test, and vaccinate its patrons.

Thank you Jennifer and everyone at the Health Department for all that you do to keep our community safe.

I want an appointment to take Covid-19 vaccine
Registered my wife last Wednesday I think, she is 72, when will she be able to get the vaccine.
Y'all are doing a great job for both testing and vaccinations. Thank you to all the workers.
What is in your mosquito spray? Your guys asked if they could come in my yard but I didn’t know what they were doing. They backed up to my vegetable garden and completely fogged it out. Can’t get a call back from anyone.
East Central Health District Good morning! A group of ten Augusta University BSN Class of 2018 students assigned to the Washington-Wilkes Health Department chose STD education as our community health project to inform the surrounding communities about the prevalence, screening, and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. We developed this short, educational video as our intervention to educate the public. Please, watch the video, leave feedback, and learn about STD prevention. Thank you
Keep your Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey safe!
