Life update.
The last three months have completely changed my life.
Three months ago, I underwent brain and cervical spine surgery. During the operation, a previously undetected AVM burst when my surgeons opened the dura, turning what was supposed to be one surgery into a medical emergency. I ultimately underwent a second brain surgery and had more of my skull removed than originally planned.
As a result, Iâve permanently lost about 90% of the mobility in my neck and will never be able to fully turn my head again. Iâve also lost feeling in parts of my left hand and left foot. My neurosurgeon told me my case is one of the most complicated heâs treated, and heâs writing a medical case study about what happened.
As if that wasnât enough, just two months laterâand completely unrelated to my brain surgeryâI developed severe complications from gastroparesis. I now have a GJ feeding tube and spend 20 hours a day connected to a feeding pump.
Recovery has been nothing like I imagined. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, this has been the hardest thing Iâve ever experienced. Every day has looked different, and Iâm still learning how to adapt to a body that has changed so much in such a short amount of time.
If Iâve been quiet or havenât replied to your messages, please know it isnât personal. Between everything thatâs happened and the numbness in my left hand making it difficult to type, Iâve been putting all of my energy into healing.
Thank you to everyone who has checked in on me, been patient with me, prayed for me, or simply thought of me. Your support has meant more than youâll ever know.
Iâm still here, im just fighting for my life in ways I never expected. But taking it one day at a timeâ€ïž
