Maryland ACP members enjoyed a Sunday in Frederick with live jazz by Ali Afrookteh’s band at Pistarro’s, followed by a visit to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.

Good food, great company, and plenty to learn along the way. Thank you to our WISE Committee for bringing everyone together on October 11, and to all who joined us!

Maryland’s resident leaders are coming together to make their voices heard! 🦀

The Chief Residents of Baltimore (CRAB) recently met to discuss resident advocacy and plans for the year.

Working under ACP Maryland’s Early Career Physicians Committee, CRAB is committed to representing ALL residents across the state. Dr. Rohan, first place in the selection process for ACP Maryland’s Resident Fellows Program led a discussion about proposed ACGME changes that could reduce resident rest protections. The committee plans to gather statewide resident input and prepare a unified response.

Plans also include educational workshops, scholarship opportunities, our annual soccer tournament, and bringing back last year’s successful POCUS workshop. An interprogram pickleball tournament is also being explored to bring even more residents together! 🏓

Thank you to CRAB cochairs Drs. Ram Bhutani, Simran Agrawal, Miracle Eke, Maddie Purcell, and Dave Kristian Dalida, and to all the resident leaders and advisors contributing to this work. Dr. Janaki, Dr. Chow, and ECP Co-chair Dr. Reyes reaffirmed ACP Maryland’s support for residents having a voice in decisions that affect them.

What moment changed the way you see medicine?

Join ACP Maryland for our next Story Swap, The Turning Point: A Moment That Changed Me, on Thursday, October 8, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM ET on Zoom.

Our featured storyteller, Dr. Andrea Levine, will share a personal experience that reshaped her perspective on medicine. We’d love to hear your story too, whether it involves a patient, a mentor, a challenge, or a conversation you still think about. You’re just as welcome to come and listen.

Find the event link below or on the ACP Maryland Story Swap events page.

Fresh air, shared steps, and time for one another đź’š

Yesterday our first ACP Maryland Wellness Walk brought early career and senior physicians, residents, and trainees together at Fort McHenry in Baltimore. A joint gathering of the Council of Early Career Physicians and the WISE initiative, it was a morning of walking, conversation, and connection across career stages.

Thank you to our Governor, Dr Janaki Deepak, Dr. Alexander Reyes,Dr Pãülíñe Mãríã, Woodward , Dr. Bhutani for bringing us together. And a big thank you to everyone who walked with us: our ECP leaders, senior physicians, residents and physicians in training, our in Medicine members, and chapter members who brought a friend along. First of many!
