🎉 What an incredible day celebrating diversity, community, and heritage! 🌍✨

The Arc Baltimore's Culture Committee recently hosted an amazing Multicultural Fair! Members of The Arc community came together to share cherished pieces of their personal cultures—from rich histories and heartfelt stories to delicious traditional food. It was inspiring to learn from one another and celebrate the vibrant traditions that make our community so special.

To make the event even more unforgettable, we were gifted a spectacular and energetic performance from the Royalty Samba dance team! Their vibrant energy and stunning performance brought so much joy and rhythm to the celebration.

A huge thank you to the Culture Committee for organizing such a wonderful event, to Royalty Samba for sharing their talent, and to everyone who shared a piece of their culture with us!

The Arc Baltimore is encouraging our community to attend upcoming regional listening sessions to share how these issues have impacted your life and help raise public awareness.

For more than two years, Marylanders with intellectual and developmental disabilities have faced Medicaid coverage losses and denials of dedicated support hours needed for health and safety. Families are stretched beyond their capacity, while community providers sustain services without payment, sometimes for more than a year without resolution or necessary action from the Maryland Department of Health. These disruptions cannot continue.

Needed support is not optional. People need individualized services to live safely in their communities, and providers cannot sustain care without payment. In a recent Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS) survey of 67 providers, 63 reported $29.5 million owed by the state for services delivered to people disenrolled from Medicaid and the waiver. Many waited months or more than a year for benefits to be restored, despite disputing their disenrollment or promptly correcting identified issues.

These sessions will raise public awareness and must remain civil and nonpartisan. Divisive or inflammatory language will not be permitted. Legislators and other government and policy leaders are invited to listen and better understand these experiences, but legislators will not have an opportunity to address attendees.

We need action now. We are holding regional listening sessions for people to share how Medicaid disenrollment, nonpayment, and losses of dedicated hours have affected their lives. Please review the flyer and register through the links in the comments if you would like to share your story.

A huge shoutout to our amazing friends at Comcast! Earlier today, dedicated volunteers from Comcast donated their time and expertise to support job seekers in The Arc Baltimore’s employment services programs. The attendees had a fantastic day gaining valuable career insights during a panel, practicing real-world interviewing skills through mock interviews, and enjoying a fun "What to Wear vs. What NOT to Wear" mini fashion show that demonstrated how to dress for success.

We are filled with gratitude for the incredible generosity of Keepers of the Green! For two decades, their steadfast support has transformed lives across The Arc Baltimore community.

Because of their kindness, a gentleman we support was able to get an electric wheelchair, giving him greater independence and freedom both at home and out in the community. It was so special seeing everyone meet the recipient, Stephen before tee-off—and even more meaningful seeing him thrive in his new chair!

For Take Your Legislator to Work Day, The Arc Baltimore and our employment partner Tessera welcomed Delegate Mark Edelson and his Chief of Staff, Marly Milicic, to the Curtis Bay Coast Guard Base for a firsthand look at inclusive employment.

The visit included a tour of the base and a chance to meet Eldridge, Wesley, and Tavon—three Tessera employees who receive employment support from The Arc Baltimore.

We’re grateful to Delegate Mark Edelson and Tessera for helping showcase the impact of meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities! 💙
