https://go.premierrt.com/facebook-root-cause-assessment I remember the frustration even at a young age of being sidelined from doing what I loved. My Mom also had Post Polio Syndrome, so I got to witness first hand the impact of poor health management on an entire family when outcomes and education are not optimal for the client. I realized my Mom had to try and figure out how to maintain her fitness on her own, as well as juggling the fear of possibly injuring her susceptible joints. While she has found ways to keep kayaking, biking, and walking to keep healthy, she could've done it with much less fear if she had a guide. Right out of High School I knew I wanted to be a Physical Therapist, but I've always had a love for the weight room and the spirit for increasing performance without the nagging injuries that prevent you from being consistent with your workouts. I completed my Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy at Husson University. I then moved to Greenfield, MA where I had the opportunity to complete a 1 year residency in Physical Therapy Orthopedics at Baystate Franklin Medical Center and Springfield College. After that we moved to Boston and attended a 2 year fellowship in complex spine conditions at the Institute of Orthopeadic Manual Therapy in Woburn, MA with a focus on patient communication and hands on treatments. I also received my certificate as a strength and conditioning specialist while in Boston. I had to opportunity to work the MIT men's basketball team, local Gaelic football teams, athletes from surrounding colleges in Boston, and members of the Celtics dance team. Maybe you're working out for yourself, or maybe you're doing it for your family, but I am so excited and proud to be a part of your health and wellness journey! Credentials:
- Doctor of Physical Therapy
- Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist through the APTA
- CSCS through the NSCA
- Orthopedic Manual Therapist through the Institute of Orthopeadic Manual Therapy

Are you strengthening your core every week and still wondering why your back hurts when you lift?

Maybe you’ve already tried...

More core exercises.

Stretching.

Maybe even chiropractic care.

And you’re still dealing with the same back pain when you squat, deadlift, or push yourself in the gym.

That gets frustrating when being active is a big part of who you are.

Sometimes the missing piece is understanding whether your ribs and pelvis can actually get into a position where your core can work well.

If your body keeps relying on your lower back during movement, adding another plank may not change how you move once the weights get heavier and you start getting tired.

At Premier Rehab and Training, we want to figure out what movement is missing first.

Then we build strength on top of that and teach your body how to use it while you squat, lift, and train.

Finding out why your back keeps having to take over is what we call the root cause.

Follow us if you want to keep getting stronger without your back constantly getting in the way.

At 59, she’s starting to see a much more active future for herself again.

When she first came to Premier Rehab and Training, years of back and hip pain were making her feel less capable.

Her walking tolerance was getting shorter.

Playing with her grandsons often meant needing to sit down after only a few minutes.

And she was starting to worry that getting older meant slowly giving up more of the things she wanted to do with her family.

She didn’t want to be the grandparent everyone had to make plans around.

She wanted to walk through fairs and farmers markets.

Play with her grandkids.

Stay active with her family for years to come.

She’s only halfway through her plan of care, but things are already changing.

She feels like she’s standing taller.

She isn’t hobbling when she walks, and the people around her have noticed it too.

She can play with her grandsons without needing to sit down after a couple of minutes.

And recently, she spent multiple days walking around the Fryeburg Fair for hours without any major issues.

That’s the bigger win.

Feeling like the years ahead can still include the family, experiences, and activity you’ve been looking forward to.

Follow us if staying active with your family as you get older matters to you.

Are you getting stronger in the gym, but still wondering what your back will let you do a year, 5 years, or 10 years from now?

Maybe you’re training two or three times a week.

Squatting.

Deadlifting.

Doing your core work.

Because staying strong matters to you.

You want to keep traveling.

Hiking.

Playing with your kids or grandkids.

Doing the things that make you feel capable as you get older.

But the back pain keeps showing up.

And eventually the question becomes...

“If I’m already dealing with this now, what happens as I get older?”

Getting stronger is valuable.

But if your hips or rib cage aren’t moving well, your low back may still be taking on more work than it should when you lift.

That’s why we want to understand what movement your body is missing, then help you use it when the weights get heavier, you get tired, and real life asks more from you.

That’s how we start getting closer to the root cause.

Because the goal is to build a body that can keep doing the things you love for years to come.

DM us “WORKSHOP” and we’ll send you the details for our upcoming FREE back pain workshop on 10/29!

Are you still pushing through back pain on hikes, but already wondering how much longer you’ll be able to keep doing the same trails?

Maybe you can still handle the miles right now.

But you’re starting to choose less elevation.

Leave the backpack behind.

Wonder whether that 8-mile mountain hike eventually becomes 5.

Then 3.

Then mostly flat trails because you don’t trust your back with the climbs and descents anymore.

That’s the part worth paying attention to.

Because hiking through the pain today doesn’t tell you how well your body is actually handling the demands of higher mileage, elevation, and downhill terrain.

If your hips and feet aren’t helping you manage those forces well, your lower back may keep taking on more of the work.

Finding and addressing why that keeps happening is what we call the root cause.

Follow us if you want to keep choosing hikes based on the mountains you want to climb, instead of how much you think your back can tolerate.

Are you stretching your hip every day just to keep your weekly mileage from shrinking?

Maybe you can still run.

But the tightness keeps coming back.

And now you’re starting to wonder...

What if 5 miles becomes 3?

What if 4 running days becomes 2?

What if eventually you lose the runs that help you clear your head and reset after a stressful day?

That’s why recurring hip tightness is worth paying attention to before your mileage starts getting smaller.

For some runners, the front of the hip keeps working overtime because of how they’re loading through their foot when they stand and move.

Teaching your body to distribute that pressure differently can change how much work those hip muscles have to do.

Finding out why the tightness keeps returning is what we call the root cause.

Follow us if you want to keep running the miles that help you feel like yourself, without hip tightness slowly deciding how far you get to go.

Are you already wondering how much pickleball your back will let you play this winter?

Maybe you’re still playing now.

But you’ve started cutting sessions short.

Playing fewer days.

Taking an extra rest day when your back feels off.

And with indoor season coming, harder courts are already making you wonder what happens next.

What if 3 days a week becomes 2?

Then 1?

What happens when you start sitting out while your friends keep playing?

Back pain doesn’t have to take pickleball away completely before it starts changing how much you get to enjoy it.

Follow Premier Rehab and Training if you want to keep your body capable of handling the game you love.

Have you started choosing your workouts based on what your back can handle?

Maybe you’re still getting to the gym.

But the heavier squats have become lighter.

You avoid certain deadlift variations.

You think twice before adding weight because you’re already wondering how your back will feel tomorrow.

And the frustrating part is...

You’ve been trying to fix it.

Traditional PT.
Chiropractic.
Massage.
Stretching.

Maybe each one helped for a little while.

Then you get back to lifting and eventually find yourself in the same place again.

When someone comes to Premier Rehab and Training after trying all of those things, we want to understand something deeper.

Why does your back keep getting overloaded when you lift?

How are your hips moving?

What is your rib cage doing?

Can your body manage the demands of squatting, hinging, pressing, pulling, and adding load?

Because if the same pain keeps returning, there may still be a reason your back is being asked to do more work than it should.

We want to identify that reason, restore the movement you need, and train your body so those changes actually hold up when the weights get heavier and the workout gets harder.

DM us “BACK” and we’ll help you figure out what may be keeping you stuck in the same cycle...

so you can get back to choosing your workouts based on the progress you want to make, instead of what you think your back can tolerate.

Does your back still light up on the downhill even after stretching, core work, and massage?

Maybe those things help for a little while.

But then you get back on the trail.

The descent starts.

And that same back pain shows up again.

At that point, we want to know WHY your back keeps getting overloaded when you hike downhill.

Can your hips open enough to help slow you down?

Can your body control the descent without asking your lower back to pick up the extra work?

Because if that piece never changes, temporary relief may only take you so far.

At Premier Rehab and Training, we look at what your body needs to do differently so the changes actually hold up on the trail.

Follow us if you want to keep crushing hikes without your back calling the shots.

Retirement can still look like long walks, trips, hikes, and days spent doing the things you planned for.

When he came to Premier Rehab and Training, he had been dealing with knee pain for years.

He was about a year away from retirement.

And instead of only thinking about everything he wanted to do with that time... he was thinking about his knee.

Would he need a knee replacement?

Would his wife have to start holding back too because he couldn’t keep up with the walking and traveling they had planned?

He had watched friends go through knee replacements that didn’t turn out the way they hoped.

And he didn’t want to lose trust in his own body.

He wanted to hike.

Travel.

Take long walks with his wife.

Stay physically capable and independent for years into retirement.

Now, nearing the end of his plan of care, his knee isn’t something he’s planning around anymore.

He traveled to New York City and walked for hours without knee pain.

He’s hiking again.

Taking walks with his wife.

He even spent hours walking around a car show on concrete without knee or back pain.

Those wins matter because they represent the retirement he was afraid might start slipping away.

More freedom.

More confidence in his body.

More opportunities to say yes to the trips, walks, and experiences he and his wife have been looking forward to.

That’s the future he was trying to protect.

If knee pain is making you wonder how active and independent you’ll be able to stay in retirement,
