What if the reason Lipedema feels so complicated… is because it rarely exists by itself?

You exercise because movement is supposed to help — but sometimes it leaves you swollen, exhausted, dizzy, or in pain.

You clean up your diet — but certain “healthy” foods seem to trigger flushing, bloating, itching, inflammation, or a flare.

You wear compression — but your skin, joints, nervous system, or mast cells may have something else to say about it.

And then there are hormones, MCAS, EDS/hypermobility, POTS, endometriosis, and other conditions that may be influencing how your body responds.

That’s what we’re unpacking in our next FREE Lipedema Warrior Clinic webinar:

Lipedema Tug of War: When Your Body Won’t Follow the Simple Rules

We’ll explore:

• The hormone connection — including puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause, and endometriosis
• The mast cell connection and why inflammatory flares can feel so unpredictable
• EDS, hypermobility, connective tissue, vascular support, and pain
• POTS and why autonomic dysfunction can complicate exercise, hydration, heat tolerance, and fatigue
• What happens when recommendations for one condition seem to make another worse
• How to start looking at your symptoms as interconnected systems instead of unrelated diagnoses

The goal isn’t to give you another rigid list of rules.

It’s to help you understand why your body may not follow the simple ones in the first place.

We’ve known for years that many women with Lipedema report feeling better after manual lymphatic drainage.

Now researchers are beginning to measure what may actually be changing inside the tissue.

A new 2026 study using quantitative MRI found reductions in tissue sodium along with improvements in self-reported pain after MLD.

It’s one study, and there is still much more to learn — but findings like this help move Lipedema care beyond “does it feel better?” toward understanding why certain therapies may help.

Your gut does more than digest food.

When the intestinal barrier becomes more permeable, substances that normally stay inside the gut may cross that barrier and trigger an immune response. That can contribute to inflammation elsewhere in the body.

For someone living with Lipedema, gut health may be one piece of a much larger picture involving inflammation, hormones, metabolism, and tissue health.

That doesn’t mean “leaky gut” causes Lipedema — but understanding what may be adding to the body’s overall inflammatory burden can matter.

If you have questions about Lipedema or want help understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms, book an appointment with our team.

Sometimes the hardest part of living with Lipedema is feeling like you’re constantly trying to manage one symptom at a time.

Pain over here. Swelling over there. Hormones, sleep, inflammation, mobility, nutrition — all treated like separate problems.

But the body doesn’t work that way.

At Lipedema Warrior Clinic, we believe understanding how those pieces may interact is an important part of building individualized care.

If you have questions about Lipedema or feel like you’re still trying to connect the dots, book an appointment with our team to discuss your symptoms and next steps.

For many women with Lipedema, “getting healthier” has been framed as one thing: getting smaller.

But the research is helping challenge that idea.

Cardiorespiratory fitness — how well your heart, lungs, and muscles work together during activity — is strongly associated with long-term health. And importantly, research suggests that fitness can matter even when body size does not change.

That means progress may also look like:
• better stamina
• improved mobility
• stronger cardiovascular fitness
• greater daily function
• feeling more capable in your body

You do not have to become “elite.”
You do not have to run.
And your progress does not have to be measured only by the scale.

Sometimes, becoming a little more fit is meaningful progress.

Start where you are. Choose movement your body can tolerate safely, and build from there.

A 2025 randomized trial gave us something we’ve been waiting for: lipedema-specific clinical data on TECAR therapy.

The study included 30 women with Stage 2 lipedema. Both groups received compression and exercise, while one group also received TECAR.

The group receiving TECAR showed greater short-term improvement in some limb measurements, short-term pain reduction, and better overall quality-of-life scores.

That matters because until now, much of the conversation around TECAR and lipedema has been based on theory or evidence from other conditions.

This is still a small study, and the benefits were not equally strong or sustained across every measure. So this is not proof that TECAR will work for everyone.

But it is encouraging to finally see lipedema-specific randomized clinical data supporting TECAR as a possible add-on to conservative care.

For many women, perimenopause is a time when their body suddenly seems to stop responding the way it used to.

Hormones can fluctuate significantly during this transition, and those changing signals may be especially relevant for women living with Lipedema.

That’s one reason changes in symptoms or body composition during perimenopause deserve a closer look rather than being dismissed as simply “getting older.”

TECAR is a therapy that delivers energy into the tissues while the therapist works manually.

Why is that interesting for Lipedema?

Because Lipedema is about more than excess fat. The tissue environment can also involve inflammation, altered circulation, fluid accumulation, pain, connective-tissue changes, and fibrosis.

TECAR may help support:
• local circulation and tissue perfusion
• fluid movement and lymphatic drainage
• softer, more mobile tissue
• areas of fibrosis and fascial restriction
• pain relief and improved tissue mobility
• manual lymphatic and fascial work

What it does not do is “melt away” Lipedema fat or cure Lipedema.

Research specifically in Lipedema is still limited, so we’re looking at TECAR as one possible tool within a much bigger treatment strategy — not a stand-alone solution.

We’ll be following Angela’s experience closely, including pain, tenderness, swelling, mobility, and how her tissue responds over a series of treatments.

Because the question isn’t only:

“Can we make the legs smaller?”

It’s also:

“Can we create healthier, less painful, more functional tissue?”

That’s what we’re exploring.

Lipedema doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

Gut health, hormones, inflammation, metabolic health and other systems can influence one another—which can make the bigger picture feel overwhelming.

But everything doesn’t have to be addressed at once.

The goal is to identify the areas that may need support, work through them step by step, and continue reassessing the bigger picture along the way.

Lipedema tissue is more complex than simply having more fat cells.

Changes can involve enlarged fat cells, small blood vessels, fluid movement, inflammation, connective tissue and fibrosis—all interacting within the same tissue.

That’s why looking at Lipedema as “just fat” can miss an important part of what is happening beneath the surface.
