There are a number of reasons that clogs form in feeding tubes. In the six (6) cases observed in the paper, three (3) received a combination of tube feed and medication prior to the clog. Two of those had a proton pump inhibitor and one had aspirin. Of the two who did not have a combination of medication and formula, one received potassium prior to clogging and the other was a nightly feeding schedule.
