What an awesome weekend! 🏅 Cheering on the guys at their first 5K, catching up with my old running partner at the finish line, and bringing home 3rd in my division in the marathon!

One of the things I love most about running is the community and friendships. It’s truly a sport that brings people together. 💛

Your liver plays a role in energy metabolism, glycogen storage and release, and processing nutrients your body needs—all important for training and recovery.

Try my simple, room-temperature smoothie:

🍒 1 cup cherries
❤️ ½–1 cooked beet
🌱 Handful of spinach
🍎 1 apple
🍋 Juice of ½ lemon
✨ ½ tsp turmeric
💧 1 cup coconut water

Blend until smooth.

Do not add ice. Ayurveda favors warm or room-temperature foods and drinks to keep the digestive fire (agni) steady and help you feel lighter on your next run.

Fall is a natural time to shift from race building to race recovery.

This is one of the things I love about Ayurveda. It teaches us to pay attention to the rhythms of nature—and to recognize that we need to change how we train, recover, eat, and rest as the seasons change.

For runners, that might look like:
• giving yourself more space to recover
• choosing foods that feel nourishing and grounding
• paying attention to conserving energy instead of always pushing through
• allowing your body to rest longer after months of training

When we sync our rhythm with nature, we come back into better balance with ourselves.

You can eat all the “healthy” foods you want—but if your digestion is struggling to break them down, you may not feel your best.

For runners, digestion matters. Bloating, gas, sluggishness, constipation, or feeling overly full can make training feel harder than it needs to.

One simple way to support digestion? Make your veggies easier to break down.

Try these 3 simple recovery rituals:

1. Cook them.
Cooking softens the plant structure and makes vegetables easier to chew and break down.

2. Dress them.
Add digestive spices like ginger, cumin, coriander, or fennel, along with a little lime juice.

3. Chew them completely.
Digestion starts in your mouth. Take your time and soften those veggies before swallowing.

Think warm, cooked, well-seasoned, and properly chewed.

Healthy food doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it’s about making it easier for your body to receive the nourishment you’re giving it.

Save this for your next meal prep. 🫶

Travel, a changing season, and marathon tapering have me craving a little more simplicity.

Right now, I’m leaning into warm, cooked meals, easy digestion, and rituals that help me slow down and feel grounded.

Because recovery isn’t just about what you do after your run. It’s also about how you nourish yourself throughout the day.

More coming soon.

Trust your training.
Trust your body.
Trust the process.

There’s plenty more where these came from! I try to reuse them, but they keep multiplying!
