The Oregon Adaptive Sports family is heartbroken by the tragedy that struck our Central Oregon community one week ago. Our hearts are with the families who lost loved ones, those who were injured and everyone whose lives have been forever changed. There are no words that can express the depth of this loss. Bend is a close-knit community, and many of us are connected to Silver Rail through our children, our friends, and the families we serve.
At OAS, we believe in, and exist because of, the power of community. In the difficult days and months ahead, we remain committed to being a source of connection, compassion and we will keep creating spaces where people with and without disabilities can feel safe, find connection, and rediscover joy, because our community deserves nothing less.
As we prepare for the upcoming season, we plan to restart our regular program communications this week, with sensitivity to all those who are grieving. For those seeking immediate support, we encourage you to follow the list of resources and events compiled by our friends at Bend Magazine, as well as those organized and supported by the City of Bend: find those links in our bio.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Pat Addabbo, Executive Director
Margaret Immink, Board President
Oregon Adaptive Sports
