Living with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol can put you at risk for something called ASCVD (atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease). What you need to know about ASCVD is that is affects more than 300 million people worldwide and it is the main driver of cardiovascular deaths, heart attacks and stroke. It is a disease that threatens all nations and races. Because the symptoms are silent, an Invisible Nation is at risk. It’s time to change the status of this community, - we need ASCVD to be top of mind for people at risk and governments around the world! https://invisiblenation.globalhearthub.org/

Hi I'm hoping to find support for my type 2 non insulin woes. I have been fighting to find out whats wrong in my body and I kerp hitting a wall. Diagnosed 20+ yrs ago. Been in remission gor 9 yrs, hit 60, parents in deep financial trouble's, best friend passed in march from aggressive cancer. Husband NOT alwsys supportive. Thinks I hust need yo loose weight. Depression / chemical imbalance. Dr not believe I have diabetes, had to prove with lawsuit papers, lows as low as 48 but staying around 67, highs for me are 170. Feel sick with both. Sticking finger 8 -10 times a day to see why I font feel well. Treating both lows and highs. No meds but 75 MLG of Zoloft. Been denied twice for continuous cgm. Seen endo says I don't fit criteria. For fatty tumor or adrenal so no tests. I know I need help my body is saying so. Thanks for listening as this is beyond frustrating. Even more serious diabetic critize and scoft. I feel alone and left without help in can. Sharalyn
Just was wondering if anyone has any suggestions where I could donate pump supplies, I have approximately 15 boxes of reservoirs and soft serters from the Medtronic 670G Insulin Pump. None are opened or used, all in perfectly good condition.
hi. my daughter in law has M.D. She has diabetes and many other other health issues. She is on SSDI and insurance has turned her down twice for a monitor. She is legally blind. If I told you of her limited diet you wouldn't believe me. Is there any help for her to get a monitor ? Thank you.
Hi all! New here! How do I connect with my local group?
I just wanted to share about a diabetes camp that will be virtual on August 13 through August 16th. Its run by the DiabetesTraining Camp. Its a great organization that usually has live camps for mostly type 1 diabetics during the summer in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Go to the Diabetestrainingcamp.com to register. Its $95 and you can come in and out of the camp as you want during the weekend on Zoom. There are different topics ie nutrition, mental skills workshop, fitness and special speakers. The itinerary will be on the website. Hope you can join me. The times shown are EST.
Does being called a "diabetic" give you that overall visceral feeling of disgust? I am an an endocrinologist at the University of North Carolina and know many of you sisters in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. I am giving a lecture this Thursday to our faculty and trainees in endocrinology (about 20 people) via zoom. I am talking about using patient focused language in the care of our patients, with a focus on patients living with diabetes. Would a few of you Sisters like to join me on Thursday from 3:30-4:30 EST via Zoom. I can tell our faculty to not call patients "diabetics" and that referring to patients as "poorly controlled" is not patient centered, but I think it would make a much stronger impression if they heard the message from you...the patients. If interested please either PM me via facebook or email me at [email protected] Thanks in advance for considering.
I've had type 1 for over 45 yrs. Last month I had triple bypass surgery due to diabetes - no hypertension or cholesterol issues. In hospital for about a week during which my bg's ran in the 300's for 1st 2 days. I asked if I could get back on my insulin pump & cgm - reluctantly they agreed. Day 3 my bg's were in low 200's & between 85-180 thereafter. By the 5th day, nurses were asking me about my omnipod dash & my Dexcom G6. They aren't updated on these technologies & find it hit or miss treating diabetics. My advise - any time you or your diabetic children have to be hospitalized - be prepared to take over your(your children's) diabetic care.
Hear my story on how I found out I had Type 1 Diabetes. Enjoy, it's actually kind of funny.
Diabetes Insulin I have recently changed to a new insulin and I have many new bottles of the insulin I am not longer using. The insulin is Fiasp and they are vials and have never been opened. Is there someone in the group that is interested in these vials?
Does anyone get so nauseous some days that they vomit endlessly? If so what do you do that helps? I've found that only IV ZOFRAN helps me.
Hi there! I'm Delphine and I’m working with Liz Lewis Casting Partners, a commercial casting film in New York city. I thought that come of your NY tri-state area community members might be interested in a project I'm working on about awareness/education. What I’m looking for is real people, age 30 and up, living Living with Type 1 or 2 Diabetes who have suffered from Hypoglycemia and are willing to share their experiences on camera. To be more specific, I am looking for people who have the following conditions: someone who is on a basal/bolus regimen and has had one severe hypoglycemic event in the last year, that is a current Glucagon owner, and/or has a subset of Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. These videos will help educate others on how people living with these conditions navigate their daily lives, treatment options, symptoms, diagnoses, etc. These videos will appear on a leading health website and be upbeat and educational.
The shoot would be 2-3 hours in Brooklyn February 12th or 13th and those chosen will receive $150 compensation. Hair and makeup will be provided. To be considered for the project, please fill out this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScXbUpvCkrW-A4J3TBJdudNoFgK8aCGA6QR1p84c5FIE1kJTg/viewform?usp=sf_link I hope to hear from you!

All the best,
Delphine Lewis
