six months ago, I signed up for something I wasn’t even sure I could finish !! i wasn’t a runner. and honestly, one of my biggest fears going into HYROX was slowing my partner down.
so i spent six months building my endurance, getting stronger, and preparing as best as I could while balancing work, kids, and regular mom life.
and then race day came….Boston HYROX was a vibe, being there was exciting in itself.
by lap three though…i knew i was in for it. the burpees and lunges absolutely humbled me. by wall balls, my toenail felt like it was coming off and all I wanted was to cross that finish line. but we did it. 1:50 !!!! ten minutes under our goal.
and somehow, one of the hardest things i’ve ever done also turned into one of the most fun date nights we’ve had as parents. 😂
here’s what i want other moms to know: you don’t have to be a natural athlete to give yourself a challenging goal. but you do have to prepare, be willing to learn, and give yourself a chance.
i’m already thinking about my next HYROX, women’s doubles for sure and my goal is to complete a singles one day!
send this to the mom friend you’d convince to do doubles with you. 🩷
and if you’re nervous about trying HYROX, ask me anything in the comments!
