I have been REALLY reluctant to do this because part of my philosophy with herbal medicine in my community is that I want it to be accessible to as many people as possible without huge parameters around cost. Largely, since I opened my store, the prices have been the same and they have fluctuated online (and that feels okay to me!). through all the tarrifs and inflation I have tried to just maintain our prices, but its time.
On the other hand I've found myself with a business that is BUSY. We have a consistent community of people who we see on a regular basis (β€οΈβ€οΈ) and new people coming in all the time saying "i didnt even know this was here!" - on top of a large online following with sales that are pretty dang consistent with an "outside of our community - community" that come back over and over. I REALLY highly value my and my team's time and work really hard to give them fair wages which is extremely hard to keep up with in this economic climate.
And on top of that I actually don't know what im doing and im praying a lot and making everything up as I go along. Through the heart palpitations, lack of sleep, and eye twitching for weeks on end - somehow it gets figured out each time, but things need to change each time to enter a new season.
So I am going to be raising prices in store - to what, I havent entirely decided yet, I want to find a middle ground that still feels very accessible while keeping us not only afloat, but thriving, so we can continue to make new remedies and have new offerings for or comminity. Our store will always be the lowest price you'll find our products unless tiktok is forcing us in to absolute assanine sales, within which, just know I am dying inside and it wasn't my choice π.
As we raise prices we are also increasing the quality of our products, I've learned new methods since I started that are really cool and we have just started implementing them in our balms and skincare that make much better and fuller extractions- which means more benefit. Its costly equipment wise and labor wise to implement these new methods. We will also be switching everything over to organic cane spirits instead of grain alcohol (YAY) over the next year -- that process includes new licensing, oversight, changing every label for every product with alcohol, and the alcohol itself is 4x the cost BUT superior and it absolutely makes sense for us. because you know what else is expensive? Filling my car with everclear every time I go to Wisconsin or North Dakota π€£
Ive been making extractions at home with cane spirits for a minute now and you can tell the difference, so im excited to implement this (we are still at the beginning stages so it'll be a bit, ill keep you posted).
We also just have some really really big changes happening as new opportunities arise, and Im not ready to talk about them yet. But when one door closes, another opens.
I am actually really reeling these days because changes are heavy as much as they can be good. And I continue to be so grateful for our community and the people who visit our store and come to my workshops and continue to be in support of all of my wild ideas. Please keep showing up for us, I have so many more β€οΈ
