It's been a rough go of it here at my house. The end of the school year, although exciting, has also been a source of stress for us. Between surgeries, dental surgeries, minor illnesses, escaping dogs, pain, stress and these darn Cicadas in our area, we all feel like we've been running a marathon.
Specifically, me, the mama.
A large portion of the last several weeks has had me guzzling coffee, crying on my sofa, watching Tiktok at 3am when I can't sleep, researching ADHD and Autism, and executing MANY couch cuddle/movie nights.
And, thinking about my little humans. My reason for just about everything I do. They grow up so fast, don't they? My son is 10 and he's starting to look it. My heart feels like it might tear in two. He grabbed my hand in a parking lot last week and I wanted to jump for joy, but I had to play it cool, because what if someone saw us? (insert eye roll)
I've been thinking so much about who these little people are becoming, and reflecting on my early days of motherhood, and starting writing down my thoughts. I hope by sharing it, one of you mamas feels a little peace, a lot of joy and an abundance of love for your sweet little ones. We are all more than our motherhood, but sometimes, it's beautiful to sit in this place we made for ourselves, with these little people we created, and forget that the rest of our lives exist. Because even when they are pooping, fighting, crying or rolling their eyes....they are beautiful, just like you are 💜
To my babies:
I pray that you grow up KIND,
I pray that you grow up HEALTHY
I pray that you grow up feeling LOVED
I pray that you grow up LOVING YOURSELF, exactly as you are.
I hope you are always GENEROUS with what you have,
including your heart, your time and your possessions,
But I also hope that you have BOUNDARIES and stand firm in them,
so that no one ever takes advantage of you.
I expect that you will never intentionally HURT anyone else.
I wish that no one will ever HURT you.
I expect that you will STAND UP and SPEAK UP for yourself,
AND anyone who can't,
no matter where they live, who they love, or what they look like.
I want you to work hard and be humble.
Help others when no one is looking.
Speak KINDNESS into the world.
Find something you LOVE and do it with PASSION- no matter what it is.
Make enough money and create a family and community of people around you,
so that when I am gone, you will go on being HAPPY, HEALTHY, KIND, GENEROUS and most of all, LOVED FOR EXACTLY WHO YOU ARE.
You don't have to get good grades, and you don't have to be the best at anything. You DO have to TRY your best, and be YOUR best.
There is only ONE finish line.
You can sprint to it, crawl to it, twirl, dance and gallop to it.
But in the end, when you meet me on the other side of that finish line,
what I want the world to remember about my children,
is that they were LOVED so deeply, that they had no choice
but to share all that love with the WORLD,
and because of their LOVE,
our WORLD was a better place.
All my love,
