Most of us can’t run away to a tropical island for recess. 🌴
There was a season I lived for the next trip. I’d push through three months on fumes, counting down to three days of rest. Come home a little recharged… then start the countdown all over again.
I called it surviving. I didn’t realize how draining it really was.
Then one year I couldn’t go on a trip with my old business. Everyone else was packing their bags, and I braced for the FOMO, the anger, the desperate need to escape.
It never came.
That’s when it hit me: we’d found the calm in the middle of the chaos. I hadn’t just survived those three months. I’d thrived in them.
That shift came after I started supporting my gut-brain axis and my nervous system. The chaos didn’t disappear. As a caregiver, it’s still very much there. But I changed. How I support myself changed.
So this week, as I lace up for another cold walk instead of a beach stroll, I’m at peace. 🙏 The trips are a beautiful gift. Not needing to run away from my own life is the bigger one.
