An Arizona mother lost her hair while undergoing radiation treatment for a brain tumor, so her son grew his hair out and had it made into a $2,000 wig.

Melanie's 27-year-old son Matt suggested that he should grow out his hair to make a wig for his mother.

By March 2022, Matt had grown 12 inches of hair, a sufficient length for a wig!

Set yourself up for success with these color-prolonging tips!

🎨Coloring. Color longevity starts with the canvas. Clarifying is always the first step to ensure pre-existing color nor products do not interfere with fresh haircolor so it can travel deep into the hair cortex! We shouldn’t apply makeup to a dirty face – so why would be apply color to dirty hair?
💪Reconstructing. Using our Pure Oil and Protein Complex on overly porous hair before a color service will allow for color to absorb better and last longer by restoring the hair with necessary nutrients. 🌱 Did someone say Prep Talk?

💦Washing. Color-safe products formulated with an acidic pH keep pigment locked in and elongate a color service's life. And check product labels to avoid sulfates and other harsh surfactants that “clean” the hair by stripping it of anything foreign (and that includes color!). A great maintenance plan with a great haircare lineup is insurance in itself.
And color depositing products revitalize haircolor in between appointments. So, if a quick refresh is in order – get our Color+ shampoos in the care plan to control tone and depth of color at home and keep color-treated hair healthy and vibrant.

🔥Styling. Constant heat strips moisture and can cause pigment to oxidize if you don't use a solid heat protectant to seal the cuticle. Blondes are especially susceptible to color change and fadage due to heat and porosity, which is why you may see your icy blonde turn yellow with the swipe of a flat iron. And let’s be serious, color or no color – we should all be using a heat protectant.
